    Exclamation MMS Broken On HTC Droid Eris (Alltel)

    I'm trying to get functional sending and receiving of MMS on my HTC Droid Eris currently activated to Alltel. Everything else works -- 3G/EvDO, SMS, etc., however using the default "vtext" MMSC settings, I'm able to receive MMS for whatever reason but cannot send MMS. I've edited the APN settings to the following which *SHOULD* be correct, but when these are in place I cannot receive or send MMS. Messages come in and fail to download -- messages send and fail instantly.

    <apn name="Production" numeric="311280" mcc="311" mnc="280" apn="1" user="my-phone-number" server="" password="alltel" proxy="null" port="" mmsproxy="http://mms.alltel.com" mmsport="8080" mmsprotocol="2.0" mmsc="http://mms.alltel.net/servlets/mms" type="mms" />

    I've tried numerious other MMS settings, different ports, URLs, etc. and none yield functional MMS. I know the Cricket crowd has working MMS both ways on these phones, but what about Alltel users? Even some of the "old" settings used to get the PPC-6700 and other WinMo devices working with MMS (ArcSoft) don't seem to hold true for the Droid Eris.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hey Methamp... I got my wife a Droid Eris on our Alltel plan (assimilated by Verizon) and MMS works fine. Are you divested or nondivested? I can give you the APN settings that work on hers, though if you're divested it might not be very helpful since I assume they are all the Verizon settings.

    ***EDIT*** Whoops. Right after I posted this, I read your other post on the "blacklisted ESN" thread and see you are divested. If you still want the settings I have I can get them to you, but I suspect they won't do you any good.

    Non-divested. We're still "pure Alltel" here. With the default vtext settings (Verizon) I was able to somehow, magically, receive MMS without a hitch. After changing the settings to Alltel following my PPC hacking days, it's broke both ways. I'm using APN Backup & Restore to change the settings but no matter what I try I can't get it to work.

    Those settings or your whole APN xml backup file would be great! I'd love to see how your settings differ from mine above in the original post.

    OK, let me see what I can do. Mrs. Answerman is out all day with her phone, so hopefully I can get it for you tonight.

    Er, yeah I just woke up -- we're divested here (Alltel). Your settings are the stock vtext settings that came with my Droid Eris. I had two Alltel accounts with different area codes -- one stayed Alltel, one became Verizon.

    I can't pry any information out of Alltel as to what the magical MMS settings would be. I've tried just about everything I can find online which mostly pertain to WinMo devices. What's funny is the Cricket crowd got it all working even with their "dumb" WAP web settings. Why I can't figure out MMS for Alltel on this device is beyond me. Everything else is flawless.

    LOL. We seem to be posting at the same time... do you need the stock Verizon settings? With the whole divested/nondivested thing I've completely lost track of what you needed now.

    I could use the old Verizon vtext settings as backup since receiving MMS worked somehow with that.

    What I'm looking for is working MMS settings for Alltel Wireless to allow my HTC Droid Eris to send/recv picture and video messages. I've done all the other work -- new PRL, 3G/EvDO, manually set over a dozen settings in the programming menu to get *228 to work, etc. I just can't figure out the MMS settings.

    What's funny is this used to be a breeze on Windows Mobile when ArcSoft was the word of the day. Why it's not working here is beyond me....

    I found out how to get MMS (receiving) to work. If you "break" the settings -- for example not putting http:// in the settings, you can receive but not send messages. If you try to put in what should be the right info, neither work.

    I was told by a reliable Alltel rep. that Alltel is testing a keyboardless Android device made by HTC to be released later this year and I think they said it was the "Droid Eris." So when this happens, I'll be first in line to copy their settings and e-mail it to myself! They told me I'm welcome to do it, too.

    Now to wait.... MMS, we will be together again s....(FAILED TO DELIVER MESSAGE) :-D

    I was checking your apn settings and your mcc is correct but your mnc is not I was looking here http://roum.ru/bases/mnc.html?cid=218 and it seems 280 is verizon not alltel maybe we should change it to alltels 270? I'm about to try I'll post my results.
