On the standard plan, without a texting package (pay per text, $.08), do unread text messages count/cost money?
I'm trying to figure out if I can avoid being charged for a text message if I select "Read later" and then deleting it.

With Tracfone unread deleted text messages are not charged. Its the only provider I know of that is that-a-way.
I use a Tracfone with Google Voice on my puter for free SMS in and out. The Trac notifies me of incoming text. I read it on the puter then delete the unopened SMS from the Trac.....sent SMS are free with GV from your account on line.
Trac and n10 can do it that way because the "units used" counter is programmed into the handset.Originally Posted by 25jive1
Thanks for bringing it up. This is my question, too.
Now I need to disable my SMS since all I got is junk messages...
I remember some tracfone models have free incoming text message, such as Nokia 1100. I still have some of these lying around.
junk messages what from ppc . cause ppc sent messages shoundnt cost you . and buy that i mean from them not another ppc customerOriginally Posted by penhead
I know MMS don't count if you reject it. I selected "manual download" of MMS messages on my phone, when I get a MMS my phone ask if I want to view it now, view later or reject it, I reject it and I don't get charged
Nice to know that. Thanks Haulero.Originally Posted by Haulero
Cannot find the "manual download" of MMS on my phone, but I set the "auto save" to "prompt" and "TXT auto view" to off. Hope that will do the same thing.
Not all handsets have that setting. For a large number of handsets...you can't reject and unread messages count.
