bill23,
I just have to say, I always have a love/hate relationship with your posts. They're always so full of information, yet so vague
With that aside, I'm glad to hear that we finally get the 3D Launcher and more home screens. Now, my question is, do you have a time frame for this release?

Sounds like the release I was hoping 2.1 would be.

Take any kind of estimate and add a couple months if recent history is correct.
What Froyo update are you talking about? Will the Droid handle it? Know the version number(2.1 etc)? I've read that there was going to be some changes to Froyo and Gingerbread that kind of keep the carriers from mucking things up, but nothing about carriers selling these devices or even Google releasing that software.

Word is traveling Froyo is the next update coming ( IE Android 3.0 possibly). Yes it is coming to the Droid

I haven't gotten 2.1 yet, by the time Froyo is here I will have moved on to another device. And I'll bet you will too!
Personally, I want a 5-8 inch Froyo tablet with a plan similar to the iPad. You may boo it, but for home, car, and office use I think it will be killer.
Recently I bought a Samsung printer that had a Samsung retail price on $214.00, but I got it at Staples for 100 bucks. So I investigated some more and found out that the only devices that are sold at retail (inflated x2) were wireless devices. So you have the horse behind the cart.
Oh dear, OpenSignalMaps says Lte 3% of the time! And ATT map say Good to go Lte! If interested you can get OpenSignalMaps from Anroid play.

Yea it is a given I'll be onto another device long before Froyo makes it to the Droid. Heck at the rate they move and as fast as I change devices I may be on my second one by then depending on what gets released and when......lol. I have however had 2.1 on my Droid for awhile now so at least that is a plus. Oh and fyi if you want 2.1 the update.zip file is posted in a bunch of place where you could just download it rename it to update.zip and put it in the root directory of the sdcard and then boot into recovery to flash it yourself quick. May take you 5 mins to do, downloading will take longer then the process itself.
I do believe your wish may come true tho as I thought I heard Moto is working on an Android based Tablet with a screen size in that range to compete with the iPad. Don't quote me on that but I'll see what I can find out.

Samsung has one too, but if it's like the older Windows model with the kb split on the sides, it may not succeed. Especially if Moto's is thinner! But like I said before, especially with Microsoft working with Ford, music, GPS, gtalk, car diagnostics and monitoring, plus...TV remote thrown in, these thing are going to be a hit.

Is the 5 home screens still confirmed? Because I could have swore Bill23 or russel or someone noted it was back to 3 now.
Its 5. And no I don't have any super secret inside knowledge, but I do have Google search
You can hit the market with your phone right now and download ADW Launcher, Launcher Pro, or Helix Launcher 1 or 2 to achieve a similar effect to the Froyo launcher. They allow you to use anywhere between 3 and 7 screens, and have a dock that allows you to add or remove extra items from within the launcher as you so please. Some brief highlights of each
I personally prefer Helix 2 because of the Dock Tray, and the 3D animation within the launcher, but it would be best if you try all 4 to see what you prefer most.
there is a few versions being tested. some have 3-5 and 7 home screens. When the time comes they will decide which they want. so far it looks like 5 for the moment.

I seen it has been said before so i will repeat it. yes moto has 2 tabs coming.Im sure they will be offered with either your choice of LTE or wifi only..I see there is plenty of knockoffs on ebay cheap these days. the apad 8" is kinda neat to play with. i was given one when i visited hong kong.Battery life is very short on those though.
