Dunno about your problem but I'll take it off your hands for $50+shipping to HK if it comes to that.
Maybe try using a China Mobile SIM (without doing the MM unlock) just to see if it's an issue with Unicom?

I think this is the first time I've gotten burned with a flea-market cheap keitai. (Not counting that time I bought a N901iS expecting it to eventually work on Unicom 3G- it doesn't, but it makes a nice alarm clock and cheap camera)
I got a 920P a few weeks ago. It's been working fine apart from average Softbank keitai issues (MM unlock and CPR). Until now. It wasn't bad at first- it would reboot going through the local dead spot on my way to and from school (well, uni, but same idea). (When I had it, my SO905i would do the same so I thought nothing of it.) Now it's really bad. In some places it'll endlessly reboot itself over and over again. And these are places that didn't even cause it to drop signal before. It's pretty much unusable on campus and on half of the way home. Even sitting still at home it'll reboot every so often now.
So my question is in the title- Is this a network issue, where I should switch networks, pay the money to re-do the MM unlock with the corresponding SIM, and be on my merry way, or is this a phone issue, but fixable in some manner, or do I just hope it's worth something as spare parts to someone else or write it off completely? I bought it for about 270RMB/~US$40, so it wouldn't be so much of a problem for me to say "that was a nice few weeks, but time to move on" (not to mention that it was restricted anyway), but all the same, I'd like to have a functioning keitai.

That's my China Mobile SIM I'm using in it right now. I'm going to put my China Unicom 64k SIM into it to see if it works better tomorrow. If it doesn't then I guess you'll have another keitai in your collection.
If swapping SIMs doesnt fix the issue then PM me![]()
Tried another SIM, still doesn't work. Though two things-
1. I bought it secondhand. It's not exactly pretty.
2. I took it to a local keitai shop and an educated guess given to me was that the SIM contacts are the problem.
If you still want it I've sent you the PM.
If anyone wants to know-
apparently this is a common problem on 920 and 921Ps where the software gets corrupted. there's no fix for it other than shipping it back to Japan (which is ridiculous considering how the phone is worth next to nothing these days).
so if anyone needs a housing or parts... pm me i guess.
Oh. The more you know. Thanks for getting it checked out and telling about it, though.
