Has anyone thought this one through? I'm currently on an iPhone 3G... trying to decide whether I'll go for the X10 in the middle of the month, or wait til summer for the apple phone. Does anyone have any insight on this? I do like the app support that the iPhone has right now, but no doubt android will pick up... Anyway let me know!
If you don't mind how closed Apple's system is, and you're fine with using iTunes to sync, then the iPhone would be something to consider. As EddieWinslow stated, Apple is holding an event on Thursday to show off what'll be added with iPhone OS4. It is unlikely that they'll announce the iPhone 4G at that event, but still possible.
Otherwise, what the 4G may offer is pure speculation right now.

yeah...the only reason i would get the new iphone, is too sell it...as with a passion i hate itunes...and everything apple did with the iphone syncing.
android was smart.
everything is synced over the web. really you could get by without ever having to plug your phone into a computer except to update on some instances
yeah, iTunes can get annoying.. i used an iPhone for about 18 months, and only used itunes once in a while to move some media over. other than that i just did everything OTA. if its not used often i wouldnt let software prevent me from using a phone that i like.
i really really want to have android based device as my primary phone, but after seeing complaints about stuff on the nexus one and X10 it kinda turns me off. i've been waiting for the X10 since we first saw it last year but these things like MT and the keyboard are kind of worrying... but I still think i'm going to give the X10 a try.

This statement is flawed.
I use Microsoft Exchange through gmail to do all my Syncing on my iPhone, with the exception being media the only thing I have to plug into iTunes for to sync. Everything else that syncs OTA on Android gmail also syncs OTA on the iPhone with gmail.
Personally I like plugging into iTunes and telling it what I want on my phone and what I dont and boom its done for me automatically. Sure I'd like wireless media sync but hey that would be a batterey killer anyway.
Media syncing on the Android I had was a major chore. Select a file drag and drop, select file drag and drop, etc, etc. Or plug in your SD card and drag and drop. Either way was a major pain.
for me i update the software on my phone frequently...so its nice to know that everything is backed up to my google account, and i don;t have to sync anything to my pc ever

depends on what you use your phone for i guess...i personally don't use my phone for media... except the occasionally picture i take with it. the xperia might change that with some people as its more media based...and im not sure what sort of syncing they have setup....
but personally i couldn't stand itunes, it works in some areas...but for me it just didn't work at all

just seemed like there were complaints about 3G issues, screen not actually being 800x480.. some things like that, and some other stuff i saw quickly on xda.
if media isnt an issue, then you completely go OTA with android or iphone OS. i do find it convenient have my mail/cal/contacts on google. its always live to any phone i'm using (android or iphone)
so really my statement wasn't flawed...my use with my iphone had to sync through my PC as i didn't have access to exchange...
android i have never plugged into my computer except to copy over new updates to flash my phone.
all contacts, calendar, and email are simply synched by just punching in your email address and password. even your first inital setup with android you never need a computer...turn it on...enter your user info and done

? same thing on iPhone. using activesync you get live/push access to email/cal/contacts for gmail.

I had the Nexus for a day and sent it back due to its poor screen response. Still waiting for the right Android.
