ok, so i did a search and there are a couple of threads with minimal info on a VoIP application for Android.
so i bought my G1 and mistakenly thought that google voice was a true VoIP app and found out that it actually dials a "local" number to gain access and then dials out from there, thus using my mobile minutes.
i have done some searching online for VoIP application so that i can make calls using my data plan and not touch my minutes, but the only things that i'm seeing are things like truphone, or tubaloo, or sipdroid.
i'm not understanding the whole sip or pbx thing. can anybody point me in the direction of a tutorial? also, are there any VoIP programs that you prefer over another (preferably free for both the app and service)? i had thought about using a skypeout account and such, but if there's a cheaper (ie free) way to do it, that's the way i'd prefer.
call back wouldn't be an issue. i just want to be able to use VoIP for outbound calls. that should help in minimalization of the usage of our minutes.
