How to update N97 (mini) clone/fake

So my friend brings me her N97 mini to try out. It's a clone. It has ok voice quality but it doesnt even have 3G nor it allows basic functions like the ability to change the brightness. Oh yeah, there is a quasi brightness feature called LCD brightness but it doesnt do anything. I dont even know how much of this phone is Nokia.

Has anyone had any experience with this clone and can I download any firmware that will work on it to improve the functionality?

If you can determine the manufacturer then check out their website and see if they offer an update and a way to install it.

As to how much of the device is genuine Nokia - your wrist watch has the same level of Nokia in it.

Yeah, I know I tried the obvious solution and I havent been able to determine the actual manufacturer, or at least running the latest drives Windows 7 thinks the phone is.
