SMS keep going missing; Page Plus says, basically: "too bad!"

(Originally posted in the Page Plus Cellular Rant Thread, but was advised it would be better posted here...)

I have just been made aware that several texts to & from a few friends have never been received. None of us have encountered an error message- it appears to go through, and we are charged accordingly. It is inconsistent- some txts go through while others (apparently) do not.

Now, this has always been an issue with Twitter- but I don't consider that an essential service so I never really complained (and who can tell if it's PP's fault or the dreaded Fail Whale!)

Example: I'm a NASA geek, and usually I'll get well over a dozen tweets a day when the Space Shuttle is on a mission (as it is right now.) I got exactly two tweets between all the NASA channels I subscribe to yesterday- and when I checked my account online, I saw that I'd missed over two dozen.

(FYI, I am on 1200/1200 TnT and almost never use more than 500 or 600 texts, and that includes the Twitter stuff that actually makes it through.)

But to find out that 'real' texts are being lost is very irritating, especially when it's something important or timely.

So I reprogrammed the phone & updated the PRL and checked all the settings in the service menu. Still not working. So I tried to submit a ticket on the PP website and got an .asp error (as usual.) My stomach formed a knot as I realized I'd have to call...

-8 tries to get past "all circuits are busy."
-26 minutes on hold, with that annoying (and inaccurate!) recording looping around in my brain like a buzz saw.

Finally get through. Battery removal, reset; 5 minutes later I reprogram again and make a successful test call and SMS to my other cell phone, but texts to two people with whom I am having this missing-SMS problem fail. (One is on Virgin Mobile, the other is VZW contract. So it's not a problem w/just one carrier.)

She begins arguing with me that since I have an unsupported phone (a VZW postpaid dumbphone, not on banned list), they will not open a ticket or do anything else. She insists the issue is with my phone and it is not their problem.

I know my phone is not the problem, so I asked to speak with a supervisor. Instead, she puts me on hold while she "consults" with a supervisor. Returns, repeats same "too bad" non-answer.

2nd request to speak to supervisor: she puts me on hold & does the same thing. Rinse, repeat.

3rd request to speak to supervisor: I am finally put through to a woman who cuts me off when I try to speak, and says (in a voice dripping with barely-disguised contempt) that she's been made aware of my problem and is not going to do anything, "as the other woman already told [me]" (despite the fact that I've had tech support call me for trouble tickets before.)

We argued for a minute, then she hung up on me!

I really wish I hadn't added $ to my account early (damn you, callingmart 10% off code), because I really think this is the last straw.

I just don't know where to go from here. I've been willing to put up with most of Page Plus's many faults in exchange for the value because I can do most things on my own and rarely have to call them. But what good is cheap service if it isn't working, and they refuse to do anything?!

Over the past year, P+ has morphed into this company that really and truly, doesn't give a s*** about any customer whatsoever. Apparently, the owners are sucking enough money at $40/month out of the so-called "unlimited T&T" plan that they've completely thrown away any pretense of customer service, leaving both customers and dealers twisting in the wind.

Kiss the $$$$ goodbye and go somewhere else. At least you'll be able to look yourself in the face in the mirror.

I left P+ at 3:30 this afternoon. We'll see how Mingo does.......

Suggestion for Missing SMS with Page Plus

Hi, I do not use Page Plus, but came across your post while searching for solutions for my brother whom is having this exact same issue with his phone through them. I did find something that resolved the issue on another forum and I wanted to pass it on to you. If you're still with them, hope this helps!

hello! i couldn't fix it on my samsung galaxy s, now i have samsung galaxy s2 nfc and the same problem appeared. after looking for solutions, i found out what was wrong! i come from slovenia, where we have three major mobile operators - mobitel, simobil and tusmobil. i am a user of mobitel and had problems with sending or receiving sms messages to/from simobil. i also changed the sim card, i bought a new one and the problem remained. so i found out that there is a problem with the servers communication. i found some numbers and proxy and the other stuff that go with that, i copied it to my phone and it works perfect now!!!!! here are some instructions where to find the ''stuff'': menu-->settings-->wireless and network-->mobile network-->access point names-->YOUR NETWORK(mine is mobitel planet) press your network and you will see name, APN, proxy, port, username, password, server, MMSC, MMS port, MMC, MNC, authentication type and APN type. in my case, my phone was missing the server which is the same as MMSC. try this by finding information about your networks and i am sure it will work. my sister had the same problem with iphone 2g and fixed it like this. i cross my fingers for you, now get to work!^^ D. Why don't you give it a try? I did it and it worked for me.

Good luck! Let me know if this helped.
