Everyone, I'm a bit confused. I don't know if I stumbled upon a glitch or what. When I put in 82070 in the Coverage Map on Sprint's website, it shows all oft he Divested Alltel in Wyoming as Sprint Coverage (like an affiliate where coverage varies). If you move the map too far, or put the zip code in multiple times, it disappears. I'm really confused because for instance the Dakotas don't show up like this, even though they're divested as well. Any ideas why? It's letting my buy service in 82070, even though they have no native network here, I'm guessing based upon this 'extra' coverage...
It is likely Sprint native coverage provided by a network sharing deal with Alltel (yes it is still Alltel, not AT&T as of now). The only difference is that Sprint is not allowed to sell phones and service in that area. They can only provide native coverage for travelers, etc but they can't actually sell service to local residents. Montana is also set up this way.

I don't think it is native coverage provided by someone else as it has never been that way around there. It seems to be just a glitch that needs to be fixed. The next update will probably fix the problem.
It just dawned on me that Laramie might be considered part of Sprint's real network. They seem to show coverage just South of Laramie. They have native coverage in Cheyenne so it could be a continuation of that.

There is certainly none available even within a mile of the city limits though.

Question for you. I live in Wisconsin but my parents live in Montana. Would I be able to set them up with phones on Sprint and send them out there for them to use? They have Verizon now but Sprint would be cheaper. Would their coverage be as good? Would they be considered 100% roaming, thus voiding their contract right away?

As long as the phones show a Sprint native signal on them then I don't see why that would be a problem. Sprint has native coverage and owns their own towers in Montana as part of the 2004 Qwest deal but that service is managed by Alltel even though the towers belong to Sprint. It's a very odd situation.

When I visit my parents, I will have to check that out to see. I have a Touch Pro 2 so how will I know if I have native service? I know if I am roaming, but not sure about the native coverage notification.
As far as native coverage, if you don't see the R for roaming or the roaming triangle then that should be interpreted as native coverage. You can also check the SID on your phone and then post it here or look it up yourself.
What part of Montana? You can also check the SID on your phone and then post it here or look it up yourself.
The SID will apparently show up as Alltel even though it is Sprint native coverage. So like you said the phone roaming indicator will be the best way to tell.
I tried this for my area code, 89301, which is in a similar situation (Alltel divested going to AT&T) and it tells me service not availible for purchase.
