Motorola DROID 2 Pre-Release Thread

Someone ("SGenius") posted this over in Engadget comments, supposedly the Droid 2 keyboard:

If that's truly the Droid 2 on the bottom, the keys still seem a bit small and still don't have much space between them. I like the keyboard on the Ally the best so far.

By the way, anyone notice the plastic on the sides are blue?

And the D Pad is replaced with arrow keys...Yea I like the Ally's better too....if this is the Droid 2, Its safe to say I wouldn't feel bad getting a new phone without a keyboard...

The ALT Lock is a nice touch tho.

I would disagree with you, the keys look big enough and the only problem would be the lack of space between them as you said. However, I dunno whether it's the angle from where the photo is taken or whether it is from the keyboard itself - do you notice how the buttons dont seem flat as the Droid 1, but rather they seem to be protruding (cant think of a better word, sorry) from their centre?
If that's the case, if they aren't flat at all, it will be MUCH easier not to mispress a button ===> large keys + easy to type = WIN

They shouldnt be flat. The Droid had a keyboard revision where they did this to the keys. Depending on when someone got their Droid, their keys might already look raised like this.

And for some reason the Droid didnt go forward with the revised keyboard. I got mine in April this year, it has a manufacture date of Mar or April this year. You would think I would have the revised keyboard. I dont.

wow they werent kidding about how touchy members can be here (not you ax). So I'm going to end this for the sake of the thread. First of all, i was never grilling or mouthing off. Sorry of you took being direct as mouthing off. I was nevr insulting ax and I was not being disrespectful.I never said I had ANY inside-ness or said I knew more than him. I know for fact he knows more than me. I wasn't challenging him. Is there a problem with stating what others have said? Is there a prob with stating what I want to believe? No. Relax. Now back to the topic....

Speaking for myself bud it is all good. I didn't take any of the comments or discussion in a negative manner hat so ever. It is no biggie, I've got thick skin after putting up with a nightmare of an X-wife for 15 yrs.....lol.

Anywhoo to everyone else thx for the support but lets just put it to rest now. I think people are reading a little more into what the conversation was about is all. And seeing as things in this nature change so much and so fast things can get blow out of context.

I like that keyboard. Yeah it could use more gap between letters but the fact that the keyboard stretches all the way across pretty much means the keys are larger and I like the arrows better than the D pad.

Overall I think I'd like using it. Although with the Shadow's beastyness I may have to abandon keyboards

will there be a gsm version of the droid 2 (such as the milestone was for the droid), and will this device be the same as the "world phone" (which has been speculated to be the DroidPro) or are these different devices?

Before anyone asks me about the keyboard picture, I can't look at it right now so I have no idea. The Droid 2's keyboard is nicer. The buttons are rounder and bigger. And it is centered. So you tell me, is that picture real.

Looks pretty close to what you're describing.

Shares a lot of similarities to the original droid keyboard, but with 4 arrow keys and an ok button in the bottom right and a alt key in the bottom left?

Alt lock key in the upper left.

Doesn't seem to be any added space between keys and from the straight-on angle they look just as square and not rounded as you said (unless you mean "bubbled", which we can't tell from the pic).

This looks good to me also. Pretty sure most rumors point to the Droid 2 being a 4"+ screen also. If you factor that in, I think the two pictures are not AT ALL to scale and that the droid2 keyboard. If this is in fact a droid2 and if the droid2 does in fact have a 4"+ screen, it without a doubt has MUCH larger than Droid keys with centers much farther apart than Droid. The larger the keys the more ambiguous key gap becomes so long as they are bubbled up enough as they seem to be.

is the headphone jack fixed for the droid 2?
and do you think verizon will give out upgrade promotions to droid users (something like what they did with storm users to storm2)
