I'm not knowledgeable enough on Blur to really say but it doesn't seem that intrusive other than maybe contacts. I thought Blur was mostly a widget thing? I don't use Facebook, Twitter, etc so I haven't tried some of the social widgets. If I had more experience with the original Moto Droid I could probably say more. Though I'd definitely say it is a "ninja" Blur experience. And I haven't seen anything that's required me to have a Blur account either.
Overall, it's a nice hardware improvement over the original Droid. If I had the original and it was rooted I probably would not upgrade; for a stock Droid? Eh, dunno, depends on whether ones wants to spend the cash. I can't wait to root this and OC it and get a diff ROM on it. As fast as the phone is sometimes there's lag in the UI but I'll blame Moto's tweaks for it. I was hoping to handle the X instead mainly for the camera and HD video, cuz the Droid 2 isn't that fantastic with those to my (dSLR) eyes, but the phone isn't necessarily worse than the X....just depends on your needs. The video is decent, though 480 only.
Sounds good. Those apps are prime suspects to changes and alterations whenever a manufacturer adds their own software overlays. I was curious what Moto did this time around. Assuming they changed those apps at all.
I think I may choose the D2 over the X. But I'll have to wait until its rooted. I just don't see myself being happy with a non-rooted phone after having the Droid rooted for so long and flashing a new rom every week LOL
There's a map for that...
I never rooted a phone so I was just wondering what the big dealp is. What does rooting do that makes a phone so much better than a stock phone.
Do you think that you will be able to turn off blur, because I don't have a Facebook or a Twitter account.
I love my Droid X
Rooting allows you to remove stock apps (twitter and facebook for example), take screenshots, clear cache, block ads, overclock the cpu, enable features such as wired/wireless tethering that may not be there by default, theme the OS, install leaks of newer versions of Android, install ROMs that contain tweaks, new features, modified apps, etc.
That's all I'll say about that since this isn't the right place to discuss it.
We're getting closer...

And with the Droid X supposedly launching on July 19th, the Droid 2 can't be much long after...

Hopefully droid 2 will be launched right after.
By the way are they showing off the droid x and droid 2 or just droid x
I don't think it says what exactly they're showing off...I'd assume it'd definitely be the X, but with it being the "next generation" of Droid I'd hope that the also mean Droid 2
yeah, that's the original.
