Just got a phone through Wirefly, can I activate it on Page Plus?

My sister just got a Droid and Verizon Service from Wirefly about 3 weeks ago. Well she's thinking about getting the Incredible but if she doesn't get that she was thinking about switching to Page Plus from Verizon.

She is still within the 30 day period Verizon gives you to cancel your service without being assessed the etf. However, she is past the 15 day period that Wirefly gives you to return the phone.

With that being said, if she decided to cancel her verizon service and switch to page plus, would Wirefly put a block on the esn or blacklist the phone until she paid the fees for canceling the (wirefly) contract before 6 months? On the wirefly contract itself, it states that they (Wirefly) will just charge the credit you used when the order was made.

Note: She contacted Verizon and they said that as long as she cancels within their 30 day period they (Verizon) would not block the esn as long as she pays for what she has used.

Unless the full price is paid for the phone it'll be banned. How else do you think Wirefly stays in business. Otherwise everybody do what you propose & they'd BK.

So wirefly is capable of placing a block on the esn? I understand what you're saying and I would also assume that. However wirefly is not a cellphone service provider so how can they ban your phone? That's like if I "actually" go to some authorized Verizon cellphone store (like wirefly) and get a phone. They have no right to ban a phone / esn. In addition the Verizon Rep we spoke to yesterday stated that she didn't believe or think that wirefly could block esn's or ban a phone. She said that that is something that would have to go through Verizon. I read in another found that wirefly will just bill you for the price of the phone but they did not mention anything about wirefly blocking a esn or banning a phone.

I will call my sister and ask her to call wirefly and ask them. But the only thing with that, is everybody gives you a different answer everytime you call.

You know you can avoid this entire problem if you just pay wirefly the amount they subsidized the phone for on top of the verizon subsidy.

    Its probably around $500
No matter what you are going to own them the money anyway. And not paying it will have consequences of some kind.

I should've stated this before but if Wirefly does bill her, she's definitely going to pay them, no questions about that. She's going to pay them next time she get's paid.

She's just wondering if the esn will be clear so that she can activate it on Page Plus or would she have to pay whatever Wirefy's first before she can do anything.

no they will let verizon know of this and it will be blacklisted . plus i think wirefly charges a 300 thing for cancelling . on top of a etf you could incur from verizon after the 30 days

Well if that's the case and since she's still well within Verizon's 30 day period, I'm going to tell her to cancel now and just pay the $300 to wirefly. Instead of canceling in like 2 months and playing Wirefly $300 + verizon $375 etf + plus your bill...that's a lot.

So I guess it's best to get out now before it's too late and she really has a high bill.

You were right.. : -) I just looked it up on the wirefly website this is what it states:

"Wirefly promises you savings in the form of instant discounts with no rebates or gimmicks when you sign up for wireless carrier service. Delivering on this promise means that you must agree to maintain your agreement for a minimum of 6 months after activation. Deactivating your phone, or downgrading features or the rate plan, may lead to additional charges.

When you sign up for wireless carrier service through Wirefly, we discount your phone purchase price by an Equipment Discount amount ranging from $200 to $300. By ordering through Wirefly, you agree to repay this discount if, during the 181 days after your new equipment is activated, if you:

    * Fail to pay your balance due to your carrier each month
    * Disconnect this line of service
    * Transfer this equipment to another line of service
    * Change your carrier service rate plan to a lower monthly service rate plan
    * Deactivate the email/data feature if one was required at the point of purchase
    * Transfer/port an existing phone number from another account if this is a new line of service
    * Replace an existing account with this account if this is a new line of service
    * Return or exchange your phone and it is not in its original, new condition with no more than 30 minutes of usage

If you break any of these contract provisions, except as a result of a documented service quality issue related to the carrier service, you authorize us to charge your credit card in repayment of the Equipment Discount.
    Pricing Errors"

So I guess she'll be paying the $300 which is still a low price considering if she wait till after the 30 days.

Even if she did want to return it, you can't if you used over 30 minutes of service which is absolutely ridiculous, but oh well.

Once she pay's this do it takes days before the esn is clear or does it happen right away?

I agree she should have went to the Verizon store and just bought one. But the Droid she has is still basically brand new. She only had it for 3 weeks so if she cancel her service and pay the $300 for the phone that's better than paying $499.99 and about the bill, well she got and paid her first bill one week ago she paid it in full $161. It wasn't due till May 5 so I think they may actually owe her money or maybe not.

But anyway once she pay the $300 to wirefly and whatever usage fees that verizon charges her, the phones her's and she can get hooked up with page plus? It may not sound great but if this is how it works out she will be happy. It can be a lot worse if it was past her 30 days.

Out of all this and seeing what she's going through, I will never get a phone through letstalk.com or wirefly. :-)

Near as I can tell she has already committed to paying Wirefly $300. She is past the 15 day trial. I don't see the advantage of buying ANOTHER handset from Verizon. It doesn't get her out of paying for the first one.

Also if I stand correct, wirefly bills you for the $300 not Verizon. So you contact Verizon cancel your service then wirefly automatically charges the credit card you provided when you made your order.

So in her case they'll be charging her credit card for $300. But my thing is even though she's paying wirefly $300 she basically buying a Droid for $300 correct..or am I missing something?

this is the verizon t&c . i think you must abide by these on top of the wirefly conditions that you posted before . it would seem to easy to buy the thing out rt for 350 total . plus the cost of the prorated service . if it works post back ,but theres something missing here . that would make this deal a grt buy . it seems like some thing else is up here . plus it says something about accepting all terms when u open the package
heres the thing that is iffy
''IF YOU DON'T WANT TO ACCEPT, DON'T DO ANY OF THESE THINGS. You can cancel (if you're a new customer) or go back to the conditions of your former Customer Agreement (if you're already a customer) without additional fees if you tell us (and return to us in good condition any wireless phone you got from us with your new service) WITHIN 30 DAYS of accepting. You'll still be responsible through that date for the new service and any charges associated with it.'' i think if she cancels she would get the wack from wirefly even if she sends the phone back

i need to chk this out cause something is missing here

See I thought something is missing also. But when she called Verizon, they specifically said that they have nothing to do with wirefly if that's where you get a phone through. They said if you do and you decide to cancel within the first 30 days Verizon would only charge you for whatever usuage that you used. They said that she would have to contact wirefly about the phone.

Well she contacted wirefly and they also said that she would have to pay the $300 and that's it. She even asked them if that was all she would have to pay and they said that's all from them.

So I'm thinking she pay the $300 plus pay verizon for the usuage and the phone is yours.
