A person on the tmonews forum reported calling in to customer service to get a compatible plan for the G1. They originally were offered the typical $30 plan. But when they tried to get something that cost less, the rep added something called the Preferred Android Internet plan to their account for $20. They were told it is for loyal customers.
Is this a new plan that is being offered by T-Mobile to long time customers? Do you have to call retentions to get this or can you just call regular customer service?

Before the release of the G1, there was a $19.99 Total Internet plan and $19.99 Total Internet with VPN plan. Anyone wanting to get a G1 was at the time required to drop those plans and get either the $24.99 Android plan with 400 texts or $34.99 plan with unlimited texts.Originally Posted by vmfreakout
I've never heard of any specific Android add-on plan for $20 however before the post that I linked to.
You had a $19.99 plan which worked on a T-Mobile branded Android phone? Do you remember what the plan was called?
I don't think this will work on a G1, but on my N1 I use the web2go plan at a mere $10/mo. Works perfectly, but requires use of internet2.voicestream.com APN.
Jet, this must be new because I tried to request this when I upgraded to the mytouch in September... only offered the $24.99 android add on
I have the 19.99 data plan for my blackberries.
Jet, you are correct. There are new loyalty offers that retention has available. I read about it in streamline today, but since I don't work in the retention department, I am unable to see what the prices are. Customer care doesn't have these offers, only a retention rep does, but I thought I read about them being available starting on the 18th.

Wow, this is new, I never heard about this.
There's the old BB plan for 19.99 but I hadn't heard of an Android one.
Has anyone tried to call this in yet? any success?
Back on the ANDROID grind
I just tried it and it worked! You need to be with T-mobile for more then 24 monthsOriginally Posted by supersoaker
Im glad they did this. I told them at the time that it wasn't fair that BB users and Sidekick users could keep their $19.99 plans, but no options where made available to android users.

I had to ditch my grandfathered $19.99 BIS plan when I got the myTouch 3G. All web services including access to the Android Market were locked down on me until I accepted the newer $24.99 plan.
HOT news. someone please let us know which method you guys used to get this....
This could be the sign i needed to KEEP my mytouch... i've been wanting to ditch it for the BB BOLD. Even rooted and Apps2sd i feel its SLUGGISH and cant perform the SIMPLE task of calling and texting right.
knock off $5 and i might just reconsider trying it again or going to n1
I prefer the 24.99 plan w/ 400 texts I have with Even More, because I don't text much at all on that line and I can't get 9.99 family text.. but if you can get it and don't need any of the unlimited-overload T-Mobile has right now it's a good deal. I had it added back in February.
