Thumbs up Hey, looks like the official Telus Milestone 2.1 Update is up!

I just checked the Motorola update site:
    http://direct.motorola.com/ENS/Softw...e_name=SUPPORT

Selected Telus, then Milestone, and its providing me with the 2.1 upgrade!

    Here's the release notes:
    https://rsddownload.motorola.com/dow...ch_24_2010.pdf

It does say ...... "During the software update, all third-party media, including but not limited to, music, pictures, ringtones, and screensavers, will be deleted. You will need to reload all third-party media after the software update. Third party applications and some custom settings CANNOT be automatically restored after the device has been updated. Please note that during the update, you will have the opportunity to save your personal data."

I think I'm going to think about this for a bit, due to all of the problems others are having, and I'm not too sure what to make of the disclosure above. Who feels lucky? I'll bite the bullet soon.

EDIT: For clarity, when I refer to "all of the problems others are having"...

I finally found the download link, got it booted up on my PC only to find out the phone needs to be fully charged. Let's hope it charges as fast as Motorola claims.

Ah screw it, my phone is sucking right now anyways, I think I'll just do it - can someone tell me though... what exactly happens with my paid apps that I've already bought? I'd rather do something like a factory reset then update just to make sure things go smoothly, but I'm new to the whole "paid apps" thing.

EDIT: just read up on this, and it appears that if you are using the same google account as the first time around, apparently it will just allow the re-download.

No third party apps or data was lost. Everything is as is before I updated but with the new features of course. I'm very happy but gotta hit the sack now.

Just updated my Milestone and all my apps, data, files and screen customizations survived the update. Love the extra screens and if there is any improvement in battery life I'll be very happy.

^^ Extra screens? This little missy is very excited!

    Updating right now.

    EDIT:

    DONE!
Yay for extra screens. I really liked how the Hero has 7, but 5 is great. Not too much space to fill, but enough to put more.

    EDIT AGAIN:

All my stuff is still there.

    AND AGAIN:

Oops, didn't see I could have up to 9 screens.

can someone clarify whether we update by going to the link in the first post from our Milestone or from our PC with our Milestone connected to the PC?

From your PC, go to the link, download and connect your Milestone via USB.
