I completely agree, I have a task killer installed in case a app gives me problems and I want to kill it. But, as for constantly killing all the background apps I no longer do it, because I seemed to have more errors and force closes when I was constantly killing them.Originally Posted by niwtsol

This is interesting because logically you would assume that anything that is still running is taking up memory. Is there any official documentation that states this?Originally Posted by niwtsol
Edit: I've also heard VZW employees recommend using it. But they are sales people, so what do they know...
I'm just starting to look into developing android apps and don't currently own one, but it says it here: http://developer.android.com/guide/t...damentals.html
I'm no expert on this, but yes, it sounds like android will kill the app if it runs low on resources. HOWEVER, I dont think it means it is the most power efficient. I could make an app that makes the screen always on and full brightness, constantly use data, wifi, gps, etc. It wouldn't use alot of memory but it would drain the battery.By default, every application runs in its own Linux process. Android starts the process when any of the application's code needs to be executed, and shuts down the process when it's no longer needed and system resources are required by other applications.
So I would think that you would still want to kill an app that you do not need running if it constantly uses power. But if its some standalone thing that doesnt do anything, I dont think it hurts to keep it running.
For example, if you have an email app set to check email every 5 seconds, it will uses alot of power vs having it check every 5 hours. But it may not use that much memory.
I'm guessing here, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
couple things:
My Seido 1750 battery is a beast so far. The battery has lasted approximately 24 hours with 40% left. Including playing 3 hours worth of movies (1 episode of deadwood X3), an hour long phone call, emails, txts and all the rest.
I wish VZW/Seido would release the dock already. I need an alarm clock stand
Thats good news, Im getting mine tomorrow. Unfortunately, im not sure if im keeping the incredible.Originally Posted by GlydeGuy

Thanks Omie! I'm going to try out the headset from my blackberry.Originally Posted by 0mie
Yah, I was surprised by the battery life too. I took it off the charger at 7:30am and after some fairly heavy use throughout the day (30 minute phone call over bluetooth, sent/received about 50 texts, some light internet usage, re-downloaded and installed 38 apps, recorded and played back a few minutes of video and spent time customizing/configuring my home screens and apps and such) it didn't finally shut down until 11:15pm with Battery Indicator showing 1%...and it would have lasted longer, except that I turned the brightness to max, turned on bluetooth and wifi and had navigation running over the final 15 minutes or so, because I was tired and just wanted to go to bed, ha ha. So, considering that should improve even further after a couple more battery cycles, I'm thinking I'll be content with the stock battery. If not, the $41 Seidio 1750 battery (via Amazon) is a good deal that I would consider.Originally Posted by GlydeGuy
DROID DOES
Picked mine up last night from a VZW store..I have got to say I'm impressed with how fast the phone is. I love it, but i still think the Ipod Touch/iPhone has better touch response..i was hoping this would be on par. I have the most trouble when browsing and using the facebook app, its good...but a tad clunky when i go to click on certain things.
I picked up the case that slides into the matching holster and i love it. I rarely use the holster part but its nice to have because it covers the front of the phone when you slide it on. Here's a link to it.. http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?p...42163&cat=4875
Also got a free 16gb card from the VZW store and a free pack of screen protectors!
Try using Google Maps Navigation. I was trying to do the same thing and the Navigation used up a lot of the battery.I intentionally tried to kill the battery yesterday and it ended up outlasting me as I went to bed
What i find odd is that most of the apps don't have a QUIT feature. Some do if you go into the Menu for that app but not many have that.So I would think that you would still want to kill an app that you do not need running if it constantly uses power. But if its some standalone thing that doesnt do anything, I dont think it hurts to keep it running.
I agree. Even if it is not necessary to close an app, its nice to have the option. My desktop computer can handle alot more apps running before it runs out of resources, but I typically close something when I'm done with it. Even if it doesnt affect performance, it makes things less cluttered.Originally Posted by stargazer424
