This happens to me also. My Gf's incredible doesn't have this problem. I just find myself using the weather.com widget instead (I like it better anyway). If I discover a solution, I'll post it.

You're not alone with this one. It has been happening to a few people from another forum I visit as well (and happening with increasing frequency to me). At least one person has been able to snag a replacement phone due to the issue, I will be trying to do so as well...it's a very VERY annoying bug.

Wow! I'm so happy I'm not alone with this one. I thought I was losing my mind and the phone was doing it's own thing.

I havent seen this posted but im wondering if anyone else is having an issue when someone sends you a slideshow or a bunch of pictures. My old phones would just play them, but the Incredible brings up a listing of the pics and i have to manually select each pic. Isnt there an auto play feature or something?

    A few complaints/problems:

    1) I get so annoyed with the fact that you can't use landscape mode sometimes. For example when entering a password in Exchange, only the portrait keyboard will work, if you rotate the phone nothing happens. I personally like to use landscape mode while entering passwords especially because its a bit more accurate. Also I know android is probably designed this way, but I hate having to constantly switch between portrait and landscape in general. I am really starting to miss the storm. With the storm, you can just flip the phone and use it landscape completely. I find myself with the incredible that often times a program (and especially the homescreen) you have to use it in portrait first and then switch to landscape for data entry or web browsing, etc.

    2) CRASH: My phone keeps crashing everytime I write "I'm" in XT9 mode. I type out "I" and "m" and it won't write the word and then it just crashes. It also has a lot of problems writing conjunctions. Often times, the word will not appear in the entry field after it's typed out. Overall, the predictive text is DEFINITELY worst than on the storm.

    3) Similarly, sometimes I'll write a word in portrait and it won't show up but there will be spaces, but I go to landscape and it's there or vice versa.

    4) When I start a new text, for some reason it's set to all caps by default. Anybody know how to change this? I haven't seen an option for it.

    5) I already wrote a thread about this, but I hate how the cellular signal bars are wrong.

    6) I'm getting a strong red/pinkish hue in my gmail, but not in Exchange or anywhere else.

    7) Every once in a while it says my Exchange password is wrong and stops syncing, but I just hit refresh and then it goes. I'm 100% positive that the password is correct and I don't even change it and it starts to work again.

    8) Sometimes right when I unlock the phone, the camera will be on. I'm not sure if it's because I'm hitting the icon or what, but it doesn't seem like I am.

    9) Multitasking is almost as bad as an iPhone..how do you switch between applications?

    10) I'm also having the weather sync problem. The button is checked for me, but I check the times that it updates and it doesn't update every hour like I tell it to, I constantly have to click refresh. It's funny too, I use two widgets, a small weather icon on my homepage, and on an alternative screen I have the full-sized weather forecast. The two temperatures on them never agree, unless I hit refresh on both of them.

This thing is fast, but honestly I feel like I have a rough, "beta", unfinished phone AGAIN.

To number 9, one way to see apps (the last six I believe) is to hold down the home key. It shows "recent applications".

Thank you, this really helped. How do you close applications? For example if I have Internet running I click menu and there are no options to close it, I can only switch out of it. Do you have to kill the process or something like that?

I haven't had much issue with this....I did notice it seems to like home button on the right more then other directions....

Haven't had that happen, I tried to replicate and was unable to do so.

To multi task you hold down the home button. Or use the upper task bar....

Not sure about your update problems....may be an issue with the network/how your phone is provisioned?
    Haven't had that one either...

It's weird that I only get the hue when looking at gmail, other times when I have a fully white page, like google.com it is pure white.

Also there were at least two other people claiming they had similar problems with weather syncing.

So you can type conjunctions fine? Especially "I'm"? I'm going to reboot the phone and see if that helps. I also don't know how it got stuck to caps only, but I have looked everywhere for an option to change it.

    I'm running on Verizon Wireless.

You can usually "back" out of an app and it will close. Some apps will close when you just leave them (ie, click on Home). But in either case, they won't be using any resources until you go back to them - except things like a music player or a GPS tracking program, a chat/IM program, etc. Those things will have a way to logout/close/exit/end/stop.

Android handles idle processes well and will re-allocate memory and resources when and if it needs to. In theory.

Thanks for your insight, seems like it handles processes much better than BB. I used to always click menu and then click exit/close instead of switching out to make sure it wasn't using any resources.

The reboot fixed the capitalization issue, but I still can't write some conjunctions.

"I'm" will not work, but "you've" works fine for example.

I've read others having issues with "i'd" and "if" in compact QWERTY and XT9 mode. I could not replicate the issues. I think it has to do with the phone adding words to the dictionary. I think it adds the same conjunctions to the dictionary, except with a capital - and that tends to confuse things and cause weird errors/bugs

Good theory, but it's not correct.

I checked my user dictionary to see if anything like that was in there, afterall one of the weird bugs is that you can see two entries of I'm (neither which work). There were no entries in my dictionary with I'm.

I cleared the entire dictionary regardless, here is a video of the results:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDq1z9DqA88

I realize it's difficult to see, but you can see two I'm appear and neither work. If you try to type out something else, it will just show up a huge jumble (because when you click the I'm, it's actually inserting text that you can't see I think). You can see the jumble briefly in the video, because I did not backspace before trying to type out something else. I then make a space, and type out "you've" perfectly, which you can't really see.

PS. The original video is much better quality, you can download it here:
