Droid users who switched to Incredible

Is it worth switching?!?! I thought about it, but I really dont see too many advantages to switching aside from the fact that I want the newest tech.

But just wanted some imput from those who had/have both devices? Is it THAT much of a difference???

It took some getting used to, but I like and now use the Physical Keyboard more the the soft. I like the ability to customize stock 2.1 over sense but for some reason, the stock 2.1 doesnt seems to "flow" as smooth as it should with certain apps.

I just upgraded today, i have 4 phones under my account, so my upgrades are always in sight. I would never pay retail of 5-600 hundred dollars for the phone, its not that incredible.

There's nothing ground breaking about this phone except for video out capability which is pretty cool, what makes the incredible stand out is the enhancements they did what this phone on its operation and features, its a lot prettier and smoother and.....FAST

I changed due to not liking the moto droid keyboard. I used the iPhone for a year before i switched back to verizon and got the moto droid when it came out. So i never used the keyboard. I hated the bulkiness of the droid due to the keyboard. That being said...

I have few customization complaints with the sense ui stuff. But overall im really happy with it. Feels much better in my pocket then the moto droid. Much smoother and you can tell big performance upgrade overall.

    What he said.

Much faster, less bulk. So far my only complaint is the battery. It remains to be seen what the extended battery will add to the phone bulk wise.

appearance, sense, camera, and 8gigs of internal flash. everything else is more or less the same...

everyone saying it's a "huge boost in performance" is just rationalizing, or, feeling the speed of a new phone without all the junk on it yet...

think about it...unless your loading it down with suspect apps, or trying to do 9 things at once, the droid does pretty much everthing instantaneously...you can't get much faster than that...

Yup, we're rationalizing...I hate that in real life a 1ghz processor and twice the ram doesn't outperform the 550mhz Droid.

those numbers don't support much for several reasons. the only supportive numbers you could provide would be benchmarks...and even then you'd be talking milliseconds in most operations...

look i'm no idiot...obviously the INC can out perform the DROID, but not to the extent that you can justify saying the wild things i'm seeing on these threads...kills it, blows it away, way faster....blah blah blah....

Uh oh. Someone doesn't understand processor architecture. Can you explain to me why my 2.67GHz i7 is an entire order of magnitude faster than my 3.4GHz Pentium 4 processor

4 cores is probably a good place to start.

Oh, I'm speaking simply in terms of single-threaded operation. Think games that only use a single core. Very few programs out there use 4 cores.

Well, when I can sit my Droid and my Incredible side by side and I can pull up the same web page seconds faster on the Incredible on the same Fios based internet wifi connection, I know something is rendering faster. It's all about real world tests...and since the wife still likes her Droid, I've been doing a lot of side by side stuff.

The camera is probably the biggest gap...the Droid crawls compared to the Incredible. With kids/dogs whatever, its beneficial.

To be honest, I don't find it that much of a leap. If I didn't detest the Moto's keyboard, I would probably return the Incredible. and go back to my Moto Droid. The big turn-off for me is Sense UI.

I have my hopes up that a plain vanilla Nexus One style ROM will be released for the Incredible, since the N1 was cancelled for VZW.

ya I have been playing around on the inc for a few hours now, its nice. but there are def a few things that I liked better on the droid (or I just haven't figured out how to customize it on the INC to my liking) the sense UI has ups/downs. to say that the droid never lagged up is obviously false, and im sure this one will too, but so far, switching through screens once i have all my apps on them is pretty quick. touch screen is very solid.

my suggestion, go buy an INC, you can use it for 30 days, if you don't like it, return it to verizon, they will give you all your money back, maybe a restocking fee if you mess up the box real bad. thats my plan as of now, so we will see how it goes.

Does this work? I don't have a Sense phone so I wouldn't know.
    http://superuser.com/questions/23001...n-the-htc-hero

    1. Go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.
    2. Scroll down until you find an application named "TouchFLO" or "Sense UI" and click on it.
    3. Scroll down to where you can see "Launch by default" and click on "Clear defaults".
    4. Then push the Home button (on your phone) and a dialog will pop up showing "Home" and "TouchFLO"/"Sense UI", check "Use by default for this action" and then click "Home". Now you got "Home" as default.
Or try similar instructions for the HTC Desire:

ya there is an HTC sense application, and i think you can take it off as default. I am going to give sense a few more days before i pull the plug on it.
