Question how many will sign or have signed webconnect after the new price is in effect?

I will do it once datajack account is suspended (no longer charge my credit card). I ordered Option iCON 452 for $130 and I am about to convert my 3rd line (if I am unable to change to $5 loyalty regular phone internet) to webconnect.

I have not made the change yet, but am considering it. I, too, just picked up an Option iCon 452 for about the same price ($122.50 shipped) off of eBay. I called T-Mobile and asked if I could convert one of my three lines to a WebConnect line and was told I could do it. The line I am considering changing is a $9.99 line with $5.99 T-Zones on it.

    Scottish Skyedance,

If you do get the $5 Preferred internet on your 3rd line, are you going to add the WebConnect line of service anyways?

I go back and forth on converting my 3rd line. I am hoping that the USB modem gets better service (as in higher speeds) than my TM506 that I currently am using to tether. Other than the slow speeds, I am very happy with the TM506 as a tethering device.

No Need to buy different device for WebConnect .. TM506 itself can serve as modem and see speeds upto 2 Mbps...

This whole thing is wearing this Old guys brain out. I have a $39.99 Total Internet ( Standalone designed for Smartphones, the one that was listed on the Internet and EMAIL page before this new change) The issue is that does have a 10GB CAP, and to make it even harder is not Voice Barred so I can use in regular phone, AND I have the Blackberry Feature Enabler on it AND I have FREE My Faves on it. Make for a very unique and flexible plan and I hate to lose it. Why would I consider it you say? (And yes I have the TM506 ready to go, in fact I have two!)

Well I do not care what anyone says, a USB Dongle just is the easiest to use for me. As my signature shows I just plugit into my Villiv S5 and I am ready to go. I plug it into my Cradlepoint CTR350 with the car cord, speedy hotspot is up and running.

PROBLEM, you cant use this Total Internet plan with any USB Modems. It is WEBCONNECT or nothing. And as soon as I drop this plan and change to WEBCONNECT $39.99 I know what will happen, TMOBILE will allow some loophole, or someone will figure out a way to use USB Modem with Regular DATA Plans. Then I have to jump off bridge or Russian Roulette with my .44. Its just so dang much to think about!! LOL

    Wireless,

I agree with you about using the USB modem instead of a phone. I do use the TM506 now but it is a bit cumbersome (a minor nit, I realize). I have cut the USB cable for the TM506 in order to shorten it so it is only a foot long versus the stock length.

I also have MyFaves on the line that I am considering changing, but I honestly have never used that line for voice calls. My other line is always with me and my primary phone. If I do convert the third line to WebConnect, I don't know if I could get the $5.99 T-Zones and MyFaves back on the line if down the road I decided to get rid of the WebConnect.

I know I shouldn't worry about 'what if' questions and just make my decision with the best information I available at this time and that is what I will do in the end once the Option iCon 452 arrives later this week. But what fun would it be if one didn't speculate and try to guess the future?!! ;-)

I am with you 100%. I can pretty much guarantee that once you give up My Faves Free Add On that will be like Pulling teeth with cardboard tweezers to get back on a Voice line, if that. It all boils down to that stinkin IMEI Block they have on everything USB or PC Card or Express Card DATA Devices. I have to give them credit, they have it down. But then again, the amount of AWS Band IV devices are not in the hundreds so figuring out what IMEIs they needed to block was not a huge endeavor.

To make it harder I do have a CLEAR USB Modem so I am not totally without USB capability. It is just that CLEAR is still not officilaly launched in the METRO DC / Suburban MD area so you cant count on it. And i have an Verizon CDMA EVDO Express Card with a USB Adapter but that is kind of jury rigged and has an unknown dependability factor LOL

So I sit and ponder, "Whats a Man to do?" LOL

    Scottish Skyedance,

That is my plan also. I have the Zoom version of the Aluratek router. I am hopeful that it works with this router.

    Wireless,

I live in Las Vegas and tried Clear for a couple of months but found it unreliable. Unfortunately, their original maps showed we were in a covered area. Their current maps now show more accurate coverage and that we are not covered.

I also tried a Sprint Overdrive and found it would disconnect and reconnect all day long. In addition, the battery life was pretty bad - which wouldn't be too much of an issue except the charger couldn't keep up with the Overdrive's battery demand. In other words, even plugged in, the battery would not charge and end up being exhausted.

I just ran across this ad (just released) for Broadband Service in Australia. This is not some crazy exception, this is what is happening in Australia and Europe. This is a very workable plan that would serve the needs of so many. Where is it in the USA. I will tell ya, NOWHERE!! We are so a__backwards when it comes to DATA it is rediculous. Just like with Prepaid Voice Service. Before we got anywhere near where we are now with Prepaid, Europe was at 70-80% Prepaid due to the fact that it just made so much sense. And thats not an error, 70-80% was Prepaid Wireless. American Wireless Carriers seem to just continuously want to be a day late and a dollar short on everything.

ONCE AGAIN, THE AD BELOW IS FOR AN AUSTRALIAN CARRIER, NOT AVAIL IN USA !!

Option 452 will work with it, but make sure you have APN setup first on the stick first.

Will do. Thanks for the heads-up. I assume one does this via the T-Mobile Connection Manager?

I am Early adapter of EM+ WebConnect ..

    1) WebConnect can be used with Voice capable phone or laptop /usb stick. typicaly run at 2Mbps
    2) Old GF 20 $ VPN typically at 700 kbps. Use this inN900 and speed will jump uptp 1Mbps.

So I kept both and fired Cable company , as I donot need them..

One thing I want to try is Option globe surfer III wireless router.. with 20 $ VPN plan..
Possibly may order from Amazon, for its return policy.

    My situation is different.
I share the DSL for the entire house, so the usage can hit a few terabytes, which is 10000% unacceptable by ANY carrier, even Clearwire.
Since I have massive usage (I play internet radio and slingplayer on the go), the usage can hit a few GBs pretty easily.
If I counted right, I used 31GB with datajack in Feb due to DSL outage.
