I'm still running with the $40 dollar plan (8 years counting) and all my web/mms still works. I don't think you need to switch to the $45 dollar plan just yet.
Can someone help me? I got a Droid flashed (just calls & text messaging work.) & I'm trying to get my data to work. I started at this part of the guide:
Open the Voice Dialer on the phone and say “Open APNs” and click open.
Click on the Verizon and edit everything to match below:
Name - Cricket
APN internet
Proxy wap.mycricket.com
Port 8080
Username yourphonenumber@mycricket.com
Password cricket
Server wap.mycricket.com
MMSC http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy wap.mycricket.com
MMS Port 8080
MCC 310
MNC 004
Authentication Type PAP or CHAP
APN type <Not set>
Now click the menu button and click Save.
Before starting the next step make sure you have the u2nl file in your this folder c:/android/tools and also that you have you autostart.sh file in this folder c:/android/tools.
Now go to command prompt and type the following commands,
cd c:\android\tools
adb shell
mkdir /data/opt/
exit
adb remount
adb push c:\android\tools\u2nl /system/bin/u2nl
adb push c:\android\tools\autostart.sh /data/opt/autostart.sh
Now:
adb shell
chmod 0755 /system/bin/u2nl
chmod 0755 /data/opt/autostart.sh
reboot
& I got everything changed until the part where i type in the first command in command prompt. I dont know what I'm doing wrong. Is my phone supposed to be in USB debugging? & cann someone explain what adb shell is?
As for the autostart.sh and u2nl files I recommend that you download an app called ScriptRunner. Place the autostart.sh and u2nl files on your SDCard in a folder called ScriptRunner and let the app do the rest. ScriptRunner will copy the files from the SDCard to the correct locations on your phone and set the permissions. Also ScriptRunner will run the autostart.sh script whenver 3G is activated and you can also set a timer to make it run the script at a set interval. This is done to ensure that the internet connection is not lost.
One last thing, the PRL mentioned in the tutorial is old and may not fully work. I recommend using PRL 6499 or one of the other newer ones floating around. Here's the link to PRL 6499. http://rapidshare.com/files/386272257/CRKTNAT6499.prl

Thanks!
I set the APNs, it was 3 seperate ones.
I downloaded the APP (I noticed your SN matches the developer name ^_^) & placed the two files in a folder title "ScriptRunner"
Now I just have the new PRL, how do I update it to my phone? And will the app automatically start running? Or should i reboot the phone?
EDIT:Also can you tell me a good place to get the u2nl file & the autostart.sh file? I put them in the folder but the app isn't recognizing them... maybe they arent any good?
You can upload the PRL using CDMA WS or QPST (I use QPST). ScriptRunner is a widget which means you'll need to add it to the home screen of your phone to access the settings. When you tap the widget it shows two buttons, Run Script and Settings. The app will also run on boot.
It shouldn't matter which autostart.sh / u2nl files you have the app should detect them if they're in /SDCARD/ScriptRunner. You can get the autostart.sh / u2nl files from http://www.whiterabbit.org/android/u2nl.zip
The first byte is default 01 for locked MIP. If you change it to 00 the MIP is unlocked and you can write whatever you need to directly in the service programming with QPST or CDMA workshop.
That makes this far simpler for anyone to do it and the rest is just running u2nl to set the proxy for data services.
Has anyone tried this? Does anyone want to dump this with CDMA WS 2.7 and 3.5? I'll stick it on my site and credit you. I know it isn't necessary for Cricket, but it would help out a lot of people on other carriers.
EDIT: Actually I am not sure if this would unlock anything before the @ (for people who don't want their MDN there), but this is still an interesting discovery.

Okay, first I'd recommend a different ROM. Try either the Froyo based FRG83G ROM or the Gingerbread based GPA14 ROM from here: http://www.peteralfonso.com/p/downloads.html. WiFi should work fine with either of those ROMs. If you want a non-vanilla ROM you can also check out Peter Alfonso's BuglessBeast ROMs. Next, with the PRL loaded you should be able to dial *611 and hear "Welcome to Cricket." The tutorial in the OP references CDMA WS 3.5 which has the evdo tab, but since you're using CDMA WS 2.7 in order to modify the evdo settings you'll need QPST 2.7 (build 323). Put the phone in diagnostic mode, connect with HWVSP, then run QPST configuration and make sure the com port is added so it will detect the phone. Close QPST config and run QPST Service Programming. Click "Read From Phone" and enter the SPC. Once it has completed reading from the phone go to the M.IP tab and you should see your MDN@mycricket.com in the profile box. Double click that profile and enter the cricket password into both HA Shared Secret and AAA Shared Secret boxes by selecting the Enter text string radio buttons. The password is cricket (all lower case). Next go to the PPP Tab and click the Um button then enter the password on the right, then click the AN button and enter the password there as well. Now click write to phone and after the phone reboots you should see the 3G icon. You will have to call cricket and give them the ESN. They charge $15 for switching phones. To program the phone dial ##7764726, enter the SPC, then go to Extended NAM settings and enter the MIN, True IMSI, MDN, and CDMA Sys ID. The True IMSI is the same as the MIN except it has five zeros in front of the MIN. Since you're on the $45 plan you'll need to put autostart.sh and u2nl on the phone as well as program the APNs as the tutorial describes. Hope this helps.
hey I'm trying to flash my droid 1 to cricket but i think im getting one of the steps wrong " Go to tab labeled “Other” and write prl. For Cricket, 38515 is recommended." how exactly do i do this step? i think i downloaded the prl file but i might be wrong please help thanks
