FWIW, I checked the VZW support webpage, and it indicates that you need to dial *71 and then the ten digit number for conditional call forwarding (called No answer/busy transfer). Point is, the VZW website said not to dial the 7-digit number (in case it's a so-called local call) and not to dial an 11-digit number (1+ ten-digits).
I realize you've tried that with no luck, but there could be a geography issue - different switches covering different areas, etc. I suggest that you check out the VZW website, as well. It's possible that the advice given to me was due to a previously-set cookie that reported my zipcode, causing me to get an area-specific answer... I thought I had remembered *71 + number to enable NA-transfer and *710 to disable it, but the VZW support site clearly states *73 to disable now. Maybe they're working to standardize that feature code, and your area isn't "fixed" yet.
I have heard that it is different in some areas of the country. I am assuming that you are trying to do this while you are in native Verizon coverage. If you have a nearby Verizon store in your area, you might want to go there and ask them what the dialing sequence is to activate conditional call forwarding in your area for Verizon prepaid. It should be the same for PagePlus
This might be the best explanation. Lots of things don't work when you are not running off Verizon's towers. It also depends upon the roaming agreement that VzW has with the particular carrier that you might be running off of when you try to *71.
When I was visiting SW Missouri, I couldn't dial out at all in some spots because that area is dominated by AT&T.
ok here is my take on this issue.. I did *71 on a Page plus number (forwarding to my google voicemail) from a Juke phone. Worked perfectly no prob.. Tried doing the EXACT SAME THING from 1) moto devour and no go, and 2) HTC driod (using THAT term loosely!!) Eris and no go so I am thinking that there is some god damn extra data flowing along with that *71 command code that the smart phones are sending that a POS juke didnt send... Think i am in the realm of possibility here?
ok I tried the *71xxxxxxxxxx three times and these are my results 1st was with a driod eris and NO GO, 2nd was with a POS Juke and BAM worked, 3rd was with my Devour and NO GO so I am thinking that with a "smart phone" or advanced phone there is some sort of extra data being transmitted with the DTMF tones... Why else would it work from my POS juke that couldnt be smart if it wanted to... if you doubt it reply and I will give you a number that rings and goes to google voice mail... my idea is as follows 1) get a crappy phone vx8300 should do it, swap the esn in a hurry for the number you want to do *71 on then swap the esn back... NEVER NEVER LISTEN TO P+ cust serv reps half dont know their asses from a hole in the ground. The other half ROCK (APRIL if you read this you are in the half that rock and I soooo heart you!!!)... If you dont know a dealer personally that will swap the esns back and forth for you call P+ and a GOOD CSR will do it for you while you are on the phone.. JUST remember to OTA the phones back and forth... God has spoken ;-)
sorry about the language I type as i talk and 4 yrs in the Navy didnt help that one bit... I have a 9 month old daughter that once SHE learns to speak I will HAVE to watch the F bombs cause I dont want her talking like me...
I just tried *92 and it works. *71 no longer works for me.
Second this. *92 works perfect. I've used Youmail for a year or so and love the interface for my blackberry. So wife moved from ST where *71 works, to PP where it didn't. She was disappointed, but I figured there had to be another solution, and there is. Thanks to all those who help contribute! Funny how ST runs on VZW, as does PP and yet they used different CCF codes.
Are any of these solutions ones that can be used without using minutes? I mean, I'm willing to do it if means getting visual voicemail via google voice, but I'd prefer not to use minutes if possible.
It's not exactly like people are leaving you an hour long rambling vm. I mean, 60 messages in a month (which is a lot-2 vm a day) should only be maybe 60-90 minutes total which I think is an extremely large amount, but your usage may vary. Sorry, no other way around that one.
Both *71 and *92 forward for me, however it doesn't forward the necessary data. If I have it forwarded to youmail, any calls I don't answer are greeted with "please enter your 10 digit phone #".
