Really it depends on when you are trying to do it. A few months back it was impossible and no manager would over-ride (they were forbidden from doing it). Now it's semi-possible depending on the circumstances, but you have to be at least 12 months into a contract and meet certain requirements.

Sorry for the newb questions but I have a Rogers phone. Im trying to help out a friend with Bell.

She has 5 months left in her contract
    Wants an iphone 4
Was told she can pay $100 for her old contract. Im assuming $20 X 5 and she can then get the $159.99

Considering Rogers has given me new customer pricing every year for the last 3 years. IE my 3G, 3GS and 4. Im shocked that Bell wont budge on the $100 with only 5 months left in a contract.

So is it true that she cant get the $100 waived with out fighting like hell with a rep?

You get our new customer pricing most likely because of the iPhone promotion that Rogers runs. Bell doesn't have the same promotion, but if she still has a hardware upgrade with only 5 months remaining she might be able to get the iPhone at a new customer price. Just depends who she talks to.

I'll just mention that my HUG date moved 9 months forward all by itself. Didn't ask for it, just happened.

no changes were made whatsoever. Just a little bit different but same same thing. Now instead of giving you a discount on the phone they give you discount on the term that you sign. EX: Before you would get a 200$ discount for the phone on a 36 months term and 150$ on a 24 now they give you the 200$ when they renew you on a 36 months term or 150$ on a 24 months renewal.

Point of doing that well it's cause of the new bill 60 in Quebec. As for the huge override well no one will do it !!

If you have an old phone that doesn't have data, they might move your date up to get you to start paying more.

Much more lenient but it still depends on the account.

If you have more than 4 lines it's waaaaay easier now (or if you average over $100/month in bills). The good thing is the partial hardware upgrades are much better than they used to be (seriously $100 - $300 better on smartphones than the old way bell did hardware upgrades).

I have the opposite problem it seems. My 3 year contract is up in May, but I got the notice at the end of February that I can upgrade my phone now. Thing is, the $50 HUG (it was called a HUG by the service rep) expires March 16th... the day before the Atrix comes out. I almost find that hard to be just a coincidence.

The rep I spoke with said that they can't extend it one day, is there any other approach I could take?

My blackberry got bricked yesterday out of no where, so looks like I'll have to go back to my iphone until I can get a HUG. Do you think it's possible to get my HUG to be 24 months after my initial contract starting date? (I became a bell customer in july 09 but my HUG is available in november this year).

Just called about using my iphone on the blackberry plan (I mentioned my blackberry broke) and then asked them when I'm eligible. They said november of this year and I asked why it's november because my initial contract was july '09. The guy said he doesn't know and I asked if I can get an early HUG to maybe july.. he talked with his manager and said if I wanted to upgrade now, I'd have to pay $195 extra.. if I waited til June, I'd have to pay $120 extra. He advised to just wait til november. I can't go 8 months without a blackberry xD what do you think the chances of getting my HUG in the summer could be?

    Hi,
Can someone please tell me what i can do in terms of HUP - I been with Bell for less than a year (9months now) and i have a 3 year contract with them, I initially purchased HTC Legend which was complete crap and it broke last week. I called Retention this afternoon, trying to get iphone 4 and sign up for a new 3 year term but they said I can only purchase the phone for full price, and there is nothing they can do to help me?
Is there anyway I can do to get an early HUP and get new phone preferably iPhone 4 for a decent price?

    Thanks

definitely not 9 months into the contract. i doubt you'll find any carrier that can/will.

I've been with Bell for about a year now. From day one, when I logged into my account online I could click "check upgrade eligibility" and see my upgrade date, which did change once or twice. For the last two or three months, I've had this:

"At this time, we are unable to provide information about your hardware upgrade eligibility and special pricing offers."

Is Bell no longer advising of your upgrade eligibility online?
