Motorola Droid Xtreme MB810 (Shadow) Pre-Release Thread Part 2 - Information Only

Sorry if this was already posted (don't have the time to go through all the pages), but I was using the Quadrant Benchmark app (grab it from the market, it's free) when I noticed that on the results page there is a result labelled "Shadow MB810" with a score of ~1100. Quadrant is one of the better benchmarks I've found as it tests GPU and various I/O functions as well as pure CPU performance.

For reference, a 2.1 Nexus is just over 500, a stock Droid around 300, my 1.2ghz Droid is ~700. There's also a Samsung Galaxy S result on there around 800 score, and a 2.2 powered Nexus at close to 1300.

Bottom line, seems pretty impressive if the Shadow is running 2.1, otherwise slower than the Nexus 2.2 if it's running Froyo.

My Droid is at 1ghz right now, got 619. The Shadow looks damn nice and I think its on 2.1 so 2.2 will be even better.

So if that shadow is running 2.1 and those numbers are to be believed, then that means a shadow is much faster than any current phone, and is almost as fast as nexus one with the 2.2 JIT and other enhancements while still running 2.1? I'm gonna say it, way too good to be true. That shadow must be running 2.2...

Now that we can do video calls even on Droid. I really want to know if Shadow will have a front facing camera.

Wait, how can that be a completly fair test to the shadow since the app only tests up to OpenGL ES 1.1, and the more powerful PowerVR SGX GPU would more likely out do the GPU's in the snap phones with OpenGL ES 2.0 being ran...unless im missing something, I know the snap and omap phones GPUs can both do ES 2.0, but wouldnt that be a better test for the relative power of the shadow versus something else?

When it comes to phones it is a vicious cycle. You'll get the Shadow and then the Droid 2 will come out or you'll get the D2 and then some other beast Moto or HTC will come out. Or an LTE phone. It will never end.

man i did the test with my droid got 895 was kinda happy but i would love to have the shadow seeing its still outdoing me and im running at 1.2 with jit

Ya no hack on the droid has been able to increase the GPU's clock speed, something the shadow won't need to have done since its GPU should be "naturally" clocked higher

this test is much more than the gpu and the only hack that does increase the framerate is jit. but i can bet you the shadow tested was 2.2 seeing im running with a device the galaxy s that has a much better gpu and cpu

Oh I know its much more then gpu oriented. Was just wondering if someone could answer my question a few posts above this
