Pretty slick. I love the size. I've got big hands, tall guy with big pockets, I'll have plenty of room. I don't see why people get worked up over the size. Everyone loved it at 4.1". 2-3 tenths later and its suddenly an issue.
July is definitely earlier than I expected though. I wonder if VZW will bump my end of August upgrade to get this in July. Im also curious if Moto will top this by the end of the year with 2GHz though and maybe 4G.
In the engagdge pic gallery they show the accessories with a droid in them and not the X. It's a shame they just have a car cradle and not a car dock. I love how motorola seems to take accessories seriously, but I'm too lazy to plug the phone in myself.
It's a shame they waste so much vertical space on the bezel and below the buttons. I'm not so sure the screen isn't 4.1". Hard to tell without them puting the evo on top to see width. Looks like they stole the 2.2 droid welcome widget too. It is beyond me why sites are so focused on a multitouch keyboard. I know it can only help, but I haven't needed it at all on the Incredible. Shame they don't have shortcuts on the keys when you hold them in like in Sense.
I'm guessing we will be getting more of this in the next week.
If you get the right person, vzw will allow an early upgrade. They did it for me.
The phone looks so sick, yet so large. LOL. At this point, the phone is out there, there is no secret thanks to engadget. Verizon should just skip the drama and say "ahh fk it, lets just release it"
My only other option would be te incredible but that's looking like it has many problems, availability being one major one.
I'm 5'7", 146 lbs and have midget fingers. I wear 32"X30" jeans and even they have a little bit of room on me. A couple of them are somewhat form-fitting. Guess what? I can't WAIT for this phone. This is the first phone I've been excited for since the release of the E815 in 2005. Yea, that's right. Oh, and I have absolutely no worries that this won't fit in my pocket. It's funny because I'm sure most of the people complaining about the size are much larger than I am and wear larger pants with larger jeans. It's amazing how a 4.1" screen can be great, but an extra two or three tenths is somehow the end of the world.
To all those worrying about the stiff camera button: remember, the Droid X underwent a 'minor hardware revision' to its body. Perhaps, that minor hardware revision is to correct the stiff camera button. My guess is after the fiasco with the Droid camera, they will get this one right. I have faith in Moto.
Man, those pics are SICK! I even like the new way BLUR looks. That's pretty incredible. I thought it was an aesthetic nightmare before.
I wonder what battery life is going to be like. 1500mah is the same as the EVO which is not getting rave reviews for battery life. The thinness of the X is not a trait I particularly care about too if someone like Seido puts out a 2500mah+ battery I'd gladly give up a few more mm for the extra mileage.
As great as these new smartphones are someone needs to think about giving us a default battery that can give heavy users a full day. The X is touting its ability to watch an NFL network game live but is that going to use more than half the battery just for that 3 hour game?

I was thinking with the camera bulge as it is a extended battery maybe wouldn't be all that bad with this phone. Maybe they could change the extended door to give it more of a triangle/pie shape. I've never really had battery issues, as long as I can charge nightly I am usually fine with my current Droid, hopefully the normal battery provides similar levels with the X.

45nm processor should help with that somewhat. The EVO runs a 65nm processor.
In photos 14 and 15 in the engadget photo gallery, the top left icon is "3G Mobile Hotspot"....is this an option in 2.1? I've heard a lot of talk about this being a feature in Froyo, but was it even available in 2.1?
Good eyes. I've been wondering for a whilw why VZW doesn't offer an official WiFi hotspot app and advertise the bell out of it, especiallywith the iPad's popularity.
It actually looks like the Droid X only has a 4.3" screen, not 4.4" like Engadget specified. If you look at the Engadget photos, with the EVO and Droid X side by side, you'll clearly see the Droid X screen is slightly smaller than the EVO's. Make sure to look at the pic where both screens are ON....
