LTE live in Huntington, WV and Ashland, KY... A buddy of mine who is an EMT was up that way taking a patient to Cabell-Huntington and was getting 16+ down
Current Device: White 16 GB iPhone 5
Carrier: Appalachian Wireless (LTE in Rural America Partner)
It's looking like there is going alot red this month with all the new reported LTE sitting's so far. Maybe I'm being optimistic.
Took a little ride and Indeed Northeast,Elkton Md all the way up to Glasgow, down Middletown De are all lit. I had sensorly on the whole time but none of it has shown up, don't know what's up with that, maybe cause it's not officially live.Wonder if Verizon could be blocking sensorly until it's on there map's.
I went to Middletown for a friends birthday yesterday. I noticed the townsend tower across from Willeys now has LTE panels and is transmitting EVDO on PCS. That tower must have been done in the last week or so as it wasn't done last weekend. No clue if LTE is active, sorry.
This tower [located in Boyds Corner, Middletown, DE] has had LTE panels since winter, but I dunno if it is active or not. According to the maps, it isn't, but I have a feeling it is online since you said the site located on the water tower is active. Once again, EVDO went from being on CLR to PCS after the LTE panels were added. Is this going on everywhere? I apologize about it being sideways. It isn't sideways on my mac, I have no idea why hofo is making it that way.
Verizon's 3G network is turning into swiss cheese. I lose 3G often in rural areas where I never did before. The cell spacing here cannot handle it as many towers are 6-9 miles apart. I understand why they are doing it, but it is rather frustrating in the interim. I think this sends a clear signal Verizon is very unlikely to start adding a bunch of new towers, I think they are really going to rely on the propagation of 750 and 850. It will likely work, people are going to notice their 3G coverage to decrease and move to 4G and these new "shared plans" we all are bound to hate here on hofo.

Does anyone know of any news for new markets or expansions for the month of June? I understand that they're usually posted on VZW's press release page, but maybe someone knows something. I'm hoping there's an expansion in Arkansas soon. Last month, my city finally got the LTE antennas installed (while it seemed like everyone else around us have had them sooner (though they're still 3G only, too -- you have to hit Bryant/Little Rock or Pine Bluff to get LTE).
Not so! I have been over this. 95% of Verizon sites always only had 1 EVDO panel per sector. Period. Sites in dense areas like NYC, LA, or busy business parks in cities may have had 2 EVDO panels, but most only had one, so when they came to add LTE, they removed nothing. Now if you are sure that site had 2 EVDO panels pre-LTE, then fine. All but 2 sites in metro-Louisville have always had 1 EVDO panel. There are 3-4 sites in Cincy that had 2 that now have one. All other sites have always had 1.
Regardless, removing 1 EVDO panel does not shift the EVDO signal to PCS. If EVDO has always been on CLR in a certain area, there is no reason why it isn't today.
Trocks, I use *3001#12345#* on the iPhone. The menu will show you what band 1X and 3G is on. It's not nearly as good as some Android phones, but it is better than nothing. Delaware's 3G was PCS in Wilmington, but further south as the population decreases, it was always on cellular since I've had my iPhone. Launching LTE is causing this, because as they add the LTE panel they are also toying with how the rest of the site works, or in some cases, completely replacing all of the panels to a different style.
Wireless Junkie, yes all of the mid-Delaware sites have went from 2 panels dedicated to 3G to one. I am sure, as you said, that will hurt capacity. However, as they are adding LTE (and thus removing a 3G panel), they are ensuring the only remaining 3G panel is running at PCS frequencies. So many rural areas in Delaware are going from 2 panels running EVDO on 850 to one panel broadcasting on PCS. BCLToys is unfortunately experiencing this not far away in eastern Maryland as well. I suppose this will help voice capacity, otherwise why mess with what is working.
I ask these questions because similar discussion and congestion issues are occurring in other threads. It would help to address those threads but I don't have answers.
So is it correct that a two-EVDO-panel tower to which LTE is added has one EVDO panel removed?
Would this increase 3g load, cause congestion and reduce 3g speeds?
Are the bands for any EVDO being shifted from CLR to PCS? This also is being asserted in some threads.
