That doesn't mean it's not going to work, it will. There isn't much sense in relying on a CS fallback for the longterm, especially since the voice over LTE is officially official and backed just about by everyone. LTE will stand on it's own two feet, and it looks like vzw is planning just that with their 100% footprint goal.Originally Posted by bigsnake49
It also seems like you think everyone will be on LTE as soon as it's launched, that isn't the case. There will be a slow migration as users upgrade, and plenty of those that will linger onto CDMA because they never upgrade.
This is similar to a GSM>HSPA transition.

Hey guys, has anyone heard whether dfw is included in the 25 or so markets that are supposed to launch LTE this year? I can't find any info other than the test markets Seattle and Boston. Thanks.
All the other markets are speculation now, no clues as to where they are.
ATL, Las Vegas, Boston, and I'm prety sure Dallas will get LTE this year. Not sure of the others. They are already working on it in ATL and Las Vegas.

Verizon's *initial* LTE test cities were going to be Minneapolis, MN, Columbus, OH, and "northern New Jersey" (which apparently is promoted to city status...) So I won't be too surprised if they get LTE.
Phoenix will be one of the initial markets too.
Where are these cities/markets coming from? Boston and Seattle are the only official cities til vzw says otherwise or at least a blog site hints, post from store and phone level reps holds as much weight as a paper bag.

Well there you go, VZW wants to have voice up and running on LTE with LTE handsets in 2012, which sounds like it is a good time for it to happen.
The talk is tiered pricing is inevitable, so how does Sprint's $10 Evo tax with a $30 hotspot fee look now.

Verizon has the best coverage where I live, work and travel, with 3G on all of their network, and I expect LTE to be the same, so while I'm not happy about the tiered thing they are the best out there for me and for many others.
I see Sprint's native coverage improving all the time and only, while having a good time, things about Sprint coverage in CA. I bet you'll see unlimited WiMax before tiered LTE comes around.
You must be the only one. They don't even own there network you could say. They outsourced it to some company to take care of it and all. LTE all the way. The world standard.Originally Posted by Dubspoon
I work for VZW and I've been told from higher ups. It's coming to Phoenix before years end whether you like it or not.
