    If we are going to get picky...according to Wikipedia; Dover Delaware, Jefferson city MO, Carson city, and Juneau AK are the four other capitals not on interstates.

    On topic now, Sensorly has shown coverage there for a while so I'm not too surprised. They really are doing a good job expanding in South Dakota and now in Kansas. Nebraska is getting surrounded by LTE expansions, too bad we've had nothing in 6 months.

    Well Verizon didn't announce LTE expansion into the Black Hills until about 2 weeks after it went live here. Maybe they are waiting for other areas to come online before doing another announcement.

    That's a distinct possibility. VZW seems to want to avoid announcing service in an area, then having people be all "Ohh, it's so spotty, why didn't they finish it first?"... so, it seems they *do* finish it first (If not the whole market, at least a substantial area.)

    Smart move, it'd be real frustrating to find out (as has happened on some other carriers.. I won't name names) that your area had 4G announced, only to find out it's not actually rolled out enough to maintain coverage, and fades in and out as you move around.

    Sorry to go off-track, my sincere and heart-felt apologies (But you did look it up and post!), but there isn't much to talk about while waiting another week for the next round of little polkadots to light up. I just found it odd that Verizon would put out a press release to announce service in Garden City, KS and not for the state capitol of South Dakota. It's probably because Garden City is twice the population of Pierre, but who knows, I'm not trying to start some HUGE controversy.

    I don't care that you went off topic and I agree what else do you do when you only have announcements a few days a month. I really just used it as a segue because my two thoughts were completely different.

    I agree with you though, its odd that they announced the Kansas cities and not Pierre. Although if I remember correctly, they didn't announce all of last month's markets early. We should know in 6 days.

    In regards to controversy, too late. How about the state capitol of Kansas?
    Garden City, population 26658;
    Hays, population 20510;
    Dodge City, population 27340;
    Great Bend, population 15995;
    All of which have been confirmed for April 19th.

    Topeka, population 230824;
    Manhattan, population 52281;
    Lawrence, population 87643;
    Salina, population 47707;
    Still no news.

    There are countless examples, Topeka being a glaring one, quarter million people, located on an interstate highway, major college town close by; Amarillo TX, located on several major cross-country fiber optic routes so backhaul should not be the problem; and other places, but Verizon builds LTE along a stretch of I-90 and other spots outside the Black Hills serving towns of 1-200 people. I'm sure some will explain these away as NIMBY or simply because they are located along an interstate, but that logic only goes so far. We will never know the real reasons.

    And if sales of the ATT Android GO phones are any indication they will likely fly off the shelf.

    I think VOLTE may be the only savior and that's a ways out yet. But if Pierre is getting 4G then it's likely more of I90 will be covered as well. And possibly some other surrounding areas. Guess we will find out soon.

    Oh dear lol, when VM and Boost launched their Android prepaid handsets here, Sprint went downhill VERY fast. Of course thats them not maintaining their network... Let's hope Verizon try's to stay true to their reputation and at least continue upgrading until VoLTE comes around and they are planning on phasing out CDMA in 2018.

    I know this is kinda ridiculous to have to pay for better call quality, but have you tried Skype over LTE to see how the quality is? I pay $2.99 a month for UNLIMITED outbound Skype to landline calling and it sound fantastic over LTE, so even in areas where Verizon's voice quality isn't so good I have crystal clear quality.

    Guys, guys, guys. VZW made no decision on what to publish and what not to publish. News.VZW.com is just the place where regional directors talk about the changes in their area. Some use it extensively (a PR for every friggen LTE expansion in every friggen town in New Hamphsire), and some...not so much. If the regional director wants a PR, they put it there. If they don't, it doesn't happen. There is no guy with a job of keeping track of every LTE expansion and launch in the US. You can tell they are put up by regional directors because every PR is slightly different in details, but every PR from the same region has the same details. For example, some directors talk specifics, like how many cell sites, which roads are going to be covered, etc. Moreover, some PR's don't mention VZW's goals as a whole network (5-12mbps, entire footprint by 2013, etc), while others do. However, every PR from the same region will look the same.

    So if the person in charge of PR's for the region SD is in chooses to publish one, he/she will. This has nothing to do with "VZW things X city deserves a PR but X city doesn't." It all comes down to the regions and what they choose to publish. You can typically follow each regional director or regional PR person on Twitter. Their handle is usually found at the top or bottom of any PR they publish. You will see their tweets line up perfectly with what they published on news.vzw.com, but they sometimes tweet without PR's.

    My company got this notice in the mail today since their phones are with CellularOne. It has to do with Oklahoma RSA-5, which is an area where Verizon has no service at all, and is the only RSA in Oklahoma in which CellularOne, a GSM carrier, operates. The area is already served by Pioneer with 3G CDMA, but the letter talks about transitioning CellularOne customers to Pioneer's new LTE network, so I am thinking this is what is holding up their launch of the Verizon/Pioneer LTE in Rural America system. This whole transition will put Verizon-compatible LTE into several good-sized cities along I-40 that Verizon doesn't cover well currently.

    Sorry about the size, I couldn't reduce it while leaving it legible and Firefox wouldn't allow me to link to the website version.

    I feel sorry for the cellular one users with the GS2 then, the best phone I see on pioneer to replace it is the Milestone X2, hardly a comparable phone.

    Hazards of being on a regional carrier, they don't have the "coolest" phones. It's amazing CellularOne had the Galaxy S.
