I thought we were all just on strike because of the new share-everything plans .

I know eastern Oregon was mentioned as getting LTE turned on soon, but nothing was said about central Oregon, Bend specifically. FWIW, I was in the one and only corp store in Bend this morning getting a sim changeout and asked and was told they are currently in testing mode in Bend and are scheduled to turn on in a week or so or possibly August at the latest. This is great news for us here. Several other cities in more western Oregon have already been lit up so I'm hopeful that this timetable will come to be.
Side note: getting a fresh sim card has really helped my 3G data connection from dropping. I'm going to leave my LTE enabled on my Maxx and watch for the grand opening.

Fine-tuning, and everyone wants higher site density, sites closer together, maybe they'll put up some others close by these, making for a better overall experience.

Good to hear about the sim. I wouldn't have thought about that but obviously it has to be firmly connected.

it's not the firmly connected part that is causing the problems with the Motorola Maxx it's that the PRL's are not auto updating for some reason

    No way.

Verizon spaces their cells apart about as far as possible in eastern MD and Delaware. 8 miles isn't unheard of, so LTE going 4 miles would generally span those gaps. Two miles? Forget it. They aren't putting up a new tower.

WTF is Verizon doing? This 750 LTE network needs to mirror the 1X network and it is failing to do so, by miles and miles it seems.

I was in Oregon last week and had solid LTE from Portland to Corvallis with the exception of about ten minutes on a back road leading in to Corvallis. Didn't go any further south though so I can't speak to central oregon.

New VZ customer here. Verizon covers more than 200(?) markets with LTE as of now. They are claiming on their website:

"Our 4G LTE network covers more than two-thirds of the U.S. population; by the end of 2012 our 4G LTE network will cover 260 million people in more than 400 markets across the United States."

Now are they going to get almost 200 more markets up in 6 months? It took them 2 years to get 200 markets online.

If they get 400 markets online by the end of the year, I would be ridiculously impressed.

First, welcome to Big Red! Hope you enjoy your stay! Second, I believe the number is 258 markets live. Verizon has historically been able to keep all promises made, so they may have a lot to do, but I don't doubt they'll get it done.

    Thanks for the welcome

I hope they get it done. Do you know how many markets they serve total? 400 almost seems like all of them

I'm not sure anyone but Verizon knows the answer to that. Heck, wasn't AT&T recently claiming "4G" in 2,000 more cities than Verizon? Perhaps others on here can answer.

BTW, how are your EVDO speeds? I remember you stating previously you were stuck on EDGE in MI on AT&T.

EVDO speeds are awesome! 1.5 to 2 Mbps down and almost always .8 Mbps up. And that is during peak usage. VZ is turning on a new tower (in a month) about 6 miles away to improve coverage in the nearby town and to take some of the load off the site by my house.

The new cell site in the nearby town is using fiber backhaul from Charter and it has LTE panels on it already.

The site by my house seems to be backhauled by microwave. There are 2 six foot dishes on it and a smaller 3 foot dish.

Nice! I am very glad you are happy! It sounds like your speeds may get even faster once that new tower comes online. I wonder when your area is scheduled for LTE...

The Traverse City, Michigan area is getting LTE June 21st. It is the first market in "northern Michigan" to get LTE. That area is 110 miles away from my town. So hopefully they'll expand more into NE Michigan later this year
