Completely agree... as I stated above, there are too many stickies, already.

But what about putting that statement into the TITLE of the current FAQ sticky? I asked for that above, too, and it was never addressed.

Sorry I missed it earlier. I honestly don't think it'll help. If people ignore a stickied thread with "FAQ" in the title, adding "only VMUSA phones will work on VMUSA" to it will still be ignored as well. Its not an issue of people just not clicking the threads, its an issue of people being so oblivious to what is already here and so dense as to think they're the only one who has ever thought of the question, and that their question is so important that it deserves an immediate answer. Having been a mod for several years now, there is nothing that frustrates me more, but there is almost nothing that can be done about it other than to direct users to where the question is answered.

Oh, and for the Premium Membership (now called Gold Membership), go to SETTINGS > MY SETTINGS (under left hand column) > MY ACCOUNT > PAID SUBSCRIPTIONS. There you should be able to sign up for the Gold Membership if you wish.

A simple "Data Up or Down in your area?" sticky thread would make searching for network issues much easier and there would be less clutter on the forum. All that a person would have to do is go to the last page. Yes it would build up quickly, but could be cleaned out once in a while. Some threads are approaching 100 pages on the forum now.

I'll reiterate that part of the objective in moderating and keeping a forum clean is not to clutter it with stickies. If users are too lazy to read the posts on the first page, they're not going to read the stickies either, so another sticky won't help to solve the occasional duplicate thread that pops up. If we were to create a sticky for this, it then creates more work for staff when threads pop up that should have been posts in the stickies, as we have to move them.

I think Ablinkin is onto something there, although some kind of a PHP-generated imagemap would be a lot more helpful... the kind where you could put a pin on your region (red or green) to show if you have data or not. And where the pin will "fall off" after a specified amount of time without being updated, in case someone with a data issue fails to remove the red pin after it's fixed.

Yeah, can you do that for us?

Sounds like you know more about it than I do...get to work!

If someone wants to make up such a thing, I'm sure we can find someone willing to host it.

I have a suggestion to make the FAQ thread stand out from the other sticky threads. Give it (and only that thread) a 5-star rating. I'd do it myself, but lowly members can't rate closed threads.

Done. I have a suspicion that even if it were presented to users before they were allowed to enter the main section that many still would not read it (the rules for example: they're shown to you when you create an account, you have to agree to them to post, yet you'd be shocked at how many are completely oblivious to them).

How about some mention in the FEQ where the Tech Support phone numbers (877-600-8065) or Executive Escalation (866-553-9810) are available, since Virgin Mobile's "Social Care" staff keeps deleting them off of Facebook, even though they are the two ways people can actually GET help

I have a suggestion! Unlock this thread. Within 40 minutes of making that thread, it has 60+ views, and that's at 6:40 am on a weekday. If I'd thrown "Triumph" into the title, that view count'd soar even faster. Even with it locked, it'll be one of the most viewed topics, today. The "Any Good Deals" thread is unorganized, and cluttered with discussions on all the phones that VM offers. Most people looking for coupons for VM right now, are looking for them for the Triumph, should we really have to rummage through that other 90+ page thread, which is going to mix the discussion with every VM phone, when we only want to know about the Triumph? The Triumph is a very hot topic now, being unofficially released, recently, and worthy of it's own "best deals" thread, especially considering the initial high price.
    Hi. I'm Dan.

The thread will not be unlocked. As I stated in the post closing it, there is no need for another thread to do the same exact thing as an already existing thread. Using both common sense and logic would dictate that people would visit the "Any good deals..." thread when looking for a good deal, no?

What I will do, is to merge the locked thread into the "Any good deals..." thread, where you should have posted it in the first place.

Right, but like I mentioned, it's going to continue to be a jumble of different discussions mixed together. "Anyone" will go to that thread looking for a good deal on "any" phone. People are randomly discussing BB phones, and even still talking about the best Optimus deals there. It's wasting peoples' time reading through posts in a thread that don't apply to us, when we could all be on our own thread regarding VM's new flagship Android phone.

It's not the "exact same thing." It's basically unheard of for a phone like this to be on prepaid, resulting in more hype than usual for a new phone.

It might be useful to make Paylo a Virgin Mobile Sub-forum.

Since VM now operates PayLo (paygo) service with it's own devices and offers that are not operable or applicable on the Virgin Mobile BT service. http://www.virginmobileusa.com/cell-...aylo-plans.jsp

The same could be applied to Assurance Wireless a Sub-forum of VM... PayLo devices can be used on that service. http://www.assurancewireless.com/Public/Welcome.aspx

    ________

Within the Virgin Mobile forum you might want to add shortcuts to the Android, BlackBerry, and/or device manufacturer forums (LG, Samsung, RIMM, Motorola, etc.). This might promote additional use of those forums and provide better information to HF members & visitors.
