Followed the tutorial and everything works perfectly! I've posted my story as a thank you and contribution, and hopefully a help to other people trying this.
Thanks again d'mojo![]()
I am having the exact same issue as post 118. I get all of that busybox nonsence after the 2 cp lines. My phone also isnt asking if I want to grant SU permissions but I am getting the # after each line. Any ideas????
TO ANYONE HAVING THE BUSYBOX ISSUE
If you get a long output regarding BusyBox after the cp commands simply add busybox and a space before the command.
Example:
busybox cp /sdcard/autostart.sh /data/opt/autostart.sh
Hope this helps!
Went through the guide step by step, am having major issues trying to get the ABd shell, it keeps saying device not found. I have unplugged and replugged it several times. Do you have to have HTC Sync installed? Any other advice?
Also Any Cut seems to be gone from the marketplace. Any suggestions? Thanks
I would say at the very least you would have to have the driver for the phone installed but I thinkg the HTC Sync program does that unless you want to search around the net for the driver. I think there is another program called better cut that has a similar function BTW. But until you get the adb working that is a moot point.
Anyone have this working with a Froyo ROM?
Hi Im new to the site and was wondering if you could tell me if I could use a HTC Eris with a bad esn to flash to Metro PCS. I would really appreciate your reply!!! Thnx a buunch!!!!!!
Having a bad ESN should not matter when flashing, you just take it to a Metro store that has the capability and they flash in for you. Don't get discouraged if the first store can't do, it took me 4 different stores before I found a guy who knew how to do it. After that I unlocked using the "1 click unlock" app for Eris, and then followed the guide at the beginning of the thread. I will say if you want full capability you will have to use 2.1, I could not get data working with Froyo, but to me that is a fairly small trade off. If you are in the Dallas Metro area, and have issues flashing let me know and I will tell you where I went. Since flashing, so far I have gotten 3G speeds everywhere I have been (about 256k), thanks to the fact that this was a test bed for a 3g network for them.
Hi thanx for responding!! I actually do live near there I live in McKinney. My question is could I buy it and take to Metro to get it flashed and then follow the guidelines on the first page. I had every intention to upgrade it to 2.1 anyway. I found directions on how to do that. Or can I flash it without having service on metro and then go and get it activated. I also would like to know which you suggest to do first the update or flash it. Also if you could tell me exactly what your experience was, did u have any problems or what not. And how much did the flash from metro pcs cost? Please and Thnx!!!
Ok, funny, I live in Mckinney as well. Take it to the Metro PCS store in Allen, by the Target. The guy in there flashed it to Metro in about an hour. It cost me 23.xx ($10 for the flash, 7.50 to transfer my number, + tax and a couple fees), still a great deal considering the phone. If you don't have a number with Metro yet, you will have to pay the first month (usually $40).
You have to have Wifi, even after everything is set up you can only download apps over Wifi. that is really the only limitation I have found so far.
I unlocked it by downloading the "1 click unlock for Eris" app. Then I followed the guide at the beginning. I had an issue having Win7 64 bit finding the phone, I had to search online for HTC Eris Diagnostic driver, download it and manually install it to be able to find the phone. Once I did that Part 1 worked great until the Anycut app, which does not exist anymore. Do voice dial, and say "proxy settings" to change them. Once they are set you do not have to worry about it again.
Part 2 was fine.
Part 3 I had issues with, I could not make it work on a Win 7 machine. Would not start the ADB Shell. I used an XP machine from work, and it worked flawlessly.
Like I said I tried a few different ROMs, but ended up coming back to the original, because that is the only place I could get Data working properly. If you have any other questions let me know. Thanks
OK Thnx for taking the time to do that. Which Target r u talking about the one in the Village at Allen/Fairview r elsewhere?
