Correct me if I am wrong, but step three should be able to be eliminated, right? Seeing as there is no longer a proxy required. I'll be checking it out tomorrow and will report back.

Proxy still required as far as I can tell. I did this 2 weeks ago on another eris and it had no data access until I executed autostart.sh.
Fabian, I had that error tooand it want cause for concern. You must have done something else wrong, give us some more detail.
EDIT: Nevermind about the proxy. I unisntalled autostart and restarted my phone and internet is working without autostart.sh executing, my email app works now, and so does voice searches! You still need to follow every step to setup data access using QPST but you just dont need to do the autostart and ADB stuff now. Woot!

Hello Everyone. I am new to this. I bought a used HTC Droid Eris and MetroFlashed it. I have been following this tutorial, but am facing a problem. I have rooted the phone, but when i connect my phone to my computer and enter DM mode on my ERIS, then open up the COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, it does not recognize my phone as a COM PORT. At first my computer could not install the HTC DIAG drivers, but i looked online, found a zip file, downloaded it, and installed it. It still does not recognize my phone as a COM PORT. I am running Windows 7 64 bit, have installed JAVA (JDK), and Android SDK. Can anyone help me please.

if you have access to a windows XP machine use that instead. Windows 7 64bit has been tricky for most.

everything works its just that the 1x icon shows up when it wants. i do airplane mode, turn off mobile network turn it on again and nothing. ill randomly be doing something than that's when i see 1x. Whats wrong with it?

u can use QPST under the "roam" tab it says preferred roaming. but i like to do it on cdma ws much faster.

and another way to update prl put it in root of SD card dial ##775# and it should be there if not browse for it

Not sure if it has been posted, but froyo is finally able to send/receive mms. Got it working with CELB Froyo. As far as the instructions, I'll have to find them again. But basically you just replace the Mms.apk with one that someone altered. I'll post back with a link/instructions.
