Does anyone know if the LG 420G can be used with a bluetooth enabled laptop to transfer a contact list of phone numbers to the phone?
Also, can photos be both downloaded and Uploaded from a laptop?
Can all websites be accessed with the web connection, or is it limited to certain sites?
Can e-mail be accessed?
Thank you Tracfancier. I think of you as the URL angel, looking over my shoulder, filling in the gaps.
lol.....not sure what to make of or say about that....makes me have visions of Tracfancier scurrying around behind someone superior, working to clean up the ' I'm too busy for the details ' crumbs. And THAT just does not fit with where I place Tracfancier on the trac knowledge ladder here in this forum.
But I guess it's cool. After all, I have a follower that points out my spelling and grammatical errors.
Your incoming messages might not be free for TracPhone. ATT/TMo will still bill them even if you read the messages without deducting your minutes and this might lead to a discrepancy in your minutes.
I'd try this out and provide an answer, but I don't have access to a bluetooth anything. But, I'm sure pbush will cover it all on his blog http://pbush14.wordpress.com/ when he publishes his review.
What is the standby time for this phone? The Tracfone states 23 days, but I doubt it's that. What are you experiencing with your phone? How often do you need to recharge the battery?
Bought one of these last night and in a word (actually two): I'm impressed!
Been having web browsing issues with T-Mobile postpaid, in which no one seems to know what the problem is, I decided to give TracFone another try, to see how the AT&T network is around here, having been a postpaid customer of theirs while it was still Cingular.
For less than $20, it has a lot of nice features and I never thought I would see a phone priced so low that had it all: camera, web browser and Bluetooth.
Been able to access all of the web sites with it, including some that the T-Mobile phone (Samsung Gravity) would not connect to. Having double-minutes would definitely help in the web browsing department. But all in all, it is a decent phone and only the 2nd LG phone I've ever used. The first was on then-Cingular (and it had a monochrome screen, no color), that LG phone never gave me any trouble.
I'm very pleased with the 420G.
Does anyone know where an actual LG owners manual for this model can be obtained? This model isn't listed on the LG U.S. web site at the present time, perhaps it's too new.
Tracfone users shy away from T-MOBILE SIM`ed phones for the same reason you mentioned, web browsing problems. Have you seen this manual on Tracfone`s web site: http://www.tracfone.com/Common/Engli...sets/14382.pdf
That is just a quick start guide and doesn't seem to tell how to use all the features. I am looking at getting one for my wife, but it doesn't say in the quick start guide how to enable the speakerphone. Can someone with a 420G tell me how you turn the speakerphone on and off. If she has to go through a menu or a sequence of buttons she wouldn't want the phone. Her current phone has a dedicated speakerphone button.
She is on a contract from verizon that is about to expire but she doesn't use many minutes so it looks like prepaid will be a lot cheaper.
PS I found this thread because I saw a 420g at Family Dollar store today for $15.

If the LG420 is like the LG600 this is how to activate the speakerphone: During the call press the right soft key labeled (options) then select (speaker) on. The speakerphone indicator will show on the display screen. The loudspeaker is automaticly deactivated when you end the call.
The LG290C (CDMA) has a dedicated speaker button on its right side. Its a extremely nice DMFL Tracfone for $29.99. Use code 44477 to get $5.00 off when ordering from Tracfone. FedX3 day is free and they only add your local tax. If you don`t have a zip to order a CDMA phone, give us your zip or town/state.

A Quick Start Guide came with the package, but I'm looking for a genuine owners manual from LG. For example, when there is a signal, there is a small "E" situated to the upper left of the signal bars and I do not know what that "E" signifies.

In mostly standby mode (I don't spend much time on the phone) I've been getting a little over a week. I'm happy with that. I think the 23 day claim is a stretch though.
