I'm thinking of replacing my old phone with a HTC TouchPro2 and getting it to work on BM. I know there is a starter kit I can buy that will enable the account to be setup. I want to keep my old phone number and get it ported across. During the process of account setup does it ask for that number, or do I do that later when I subsequently call in to BM to make the IDEN/ESN swap ?

If you intend to port in a number to boost you must do so when you start the account with either Iden or Cdma. Just buy the starter kit from ebay ($5/with a $5 account credit) and go to activate via the website... it will let you port your number in during the process.
Left Virgin for Helio and all it had to offer... Only to get "acquired" back to virgin again... slowly loosing everything I switched for. Then came a light at the end of the tunnel when we got "acquired" yet again by sprint... sadly they brought us nothing and took from us everything, so as the ship sank I stayed aboard and then on the 23rd I quickly ported over to boost... and I'm the happiest I've ever been.

RIP HELIO... you were set-up to fail but it was fun while it lasted.

Has anyone used this method to port a Sprint phone into Boost after June 26 2010 (when they closed the sprint.com porting method)?
I activated a new CDMA boost phone, & have tried to port over my Sprint Palm Treo Pro without any luck. One CSR actually tried the ESN & but got stuck since he couldn't figure out the brand/model of the phone, sent me to blackberry support, & my activation was eventually cancelled.

So again, has anyone tried this iDen-->CDMA method since June 26th? I want to make sure Boost hasn't closed off porting all Sprint phones to Boost before I try ...

Upate: I selected the option to port my T-Mobile number while in the activation process for IDEN account. Then I called in to Sprint to migrate to CDMA account and provided the MEID DEC for the Touch Pro. All was sailing smoothly with a warning from the rep that all functions may not work with the Sprint Phone, (or maybe it wouldn't work at all); then, the rep noticed that i was in process of porting a number.

Rep indicated that they cannot do the migration to the number temporarily provided, but had to wait until the porting process was complete for my T-Mobile number. It has been over 36 hours and number has not ported - and my T-Mobile phone still works though the T-Mobile website indicates my account is closed.

Rep indicated the porting process does continue over the weekend but, it could be a 4, 24 or 48 hour wait. Still waiting..... will report back.

You need to call Boost and ask to be transfered to the porting center.

Once you do that ask them to check on the status of the port. There may have been a slight issue that the CSR didn't read/notice.

umm, yes... obviously we're all talking about it recently instead of this being a dead thread.

Anyway, this is IDEN > CDMA Migration. IF you're porting a number over you'll need to do it at the time of account activation only. Once done, you then MIGRATE the account over to CDMA (sprint phone).

Updating the update.... thanks, DeathTrip.....talked to Boost porting dept right after my last post.

All is good! Up and operating with web (no wait with this method of activation!). As it turns out, I was using wrong T-Mobile pin number... they got T-Mobile on the phone and got it worked out right away. Number transferred in 15 minutes; I then called Boost back and got MEID DEC setup for Touch Pro. Did a manual reset with rep. The entry of mdn and MSID only worked by editing the file where they were stored.. the ##.........# entry process didn't do it directly.

Now fully in business... going to do it again later this week for gf phone.... she will choose between a Diamond or a Touch Pro bought on ebay. Ordered an ebay SIM / Activation for that one..... found a seller (one out of 4 requested) who was willing to email me the numbers so I didn't have to wait for shipping!

Does the IM and MEID I used from you on Friday automatically return to the pool or do I need to do something to free it up?

    Thanks again DeathTrip.

    Thanks Deathtrip!

Thanks Deathtrip -- one more call to a CSR & I've been activated -- using the boost CDMA to sprint CDMA method. The key was asking for a --phone replacement-- on an existing number.

Updating the Update of the Update: Issues / Questions. Sorry to burn up this thread, but here goes.....

Shortly after being fully operational (read post above), I got a text that said AutoBoost was removed from my account and the Web add-on feature disappeared from My Account at the Boost Website (though Data was still working). Called CSR who indicated that once Boost switched from my temporary number assigned at activation to the T-Mobile transferred number, the Auto-Boost feature was lost by the system so I had to set it up again by giving credit card number and boosting it.

That went fine as I got texts again mentioning the added $$ and Auto Boost feature. All seemed well (ie web access worked). Then about 2 hours later my data service stopped and I can't get it to start again while it worked fine before even though My Account on the website now reads as web service active/enabled.

I have read that data service often took 24 hours to start once a new MEID DEC / ESN was added to account (i.e changing phones). Is it possible that this has what happened here? Except that when I migrated from iDEN to CDMA providing new MEID DEC number everything worked fine, at least initially.

Ideas? bummed that data is gone and I might not get it back... if this is standard procedure when transferring in a new number, maybe the OP can add the issues that I have run into as I work through this process.

someone opine? The ever present DeathTrip perhaps? Thanks in advance.

Well, looks like I got it working. I think it was the profile update that did it the 2nd or third time!

When you "migrate/swap" the SIM ID, or ESN becomes free to use again. Also, if you're on PAYGO you can disable the Web Service on your account, your data will still work just fine (if you want).

Issue: Incoming calls to Touch Pro on Pay as You Go rings busy. Any clue why? Everything else works great...

Might be an issue with number forwarding. Call Boost and make sure all number forwarding and voicemail is reset.

Because that "web" option is to enable proxy access for the actual Boost phones. Sprint EVDO phones use the data provided to the phone without a proxy so therefor it works anyway.
