The EVO will not work on Boost Mobile without illegally modifying the ESN/DEC.

First post sorry that its a long one.

Hey guys just wanted to report what i've went through over the last 2 days since discovering this forum. I found the forum like i said 2 days ago and decided i wanted to "migrate" my service from IDEN i850 to a CDMA v950 from Sprint.

I called yesterday around 2pm to try this but failed....miserably. I slipped up and said it was a Sprint phone and the guy pretty much ended the "im working on it" talk right there. He said that it cant be activated on the Boost network. He did say that if this was 3 months ago he could have put it on my account but when i asked what had changed since then he wouldn't explain himself any further. 16 minutes wasted

I called about 30 minutes later and tried my luck again. The guy put the DEC in and then asked "what type of phone is this" well i went with the Im Dumb approach and said it is a Motorola something and that's all i know well then he came back with "This is a Sprint V950 right" so i just said Yep. He said it was coming up an error and he couldn't do it. 22 minutes wasted

I tried again this morning. I called them up at about 11am and got this lady on the phone. I gave her the DEC and she came back and asked if this was a Sprint Phone so i just played dumb and said that i didnt know if it was or not. We talked and she "tried" about 3 or 4 times but said it kept coming back with an error. I told her my i850 was broke and i needed the v950 activated or i wouldn't have a phone. She then said she would write up in her own words a "Special Ticket" to allow me to use it and for me to call back in 2 hours. 15 minutes wasted....maybe

Finally i called back an hour ago. Got a guy and explained what the lady said it would work after her ticket and he tried but got the same error. He said it was noted that she said the phone would work but it was still coming up an error. I was then transferred over to a higher up Tech and got the same run around. He said because it was a Sprint phone it he couldn't make it work on my Boost plan. This is where it gets a little crazy. He transferred me over to Jessica from Sprint. She then tried it. She said that the v950 would work but it would only work on the Unlimited Plan and not the Pay As You Go. I said fine im willing to go unlimited but right before i finished she said "Oh sorry sir the v950 will not work on Boost". She gave me some BS story about it being an Hybrid and all this crap. She then said i could speak to her Supervisor. Fine! i said. I spoke to the supervisor and explained that i had been on the phone for and hour now and was told the phone would work earlier by one of their people and she apologized but said that the phone couldnt be put on the Boost account. We talked for about 2 more minutes and then she told me for my trouble (over and hour on the phone) and for being misinformed by one of their people she was going to send me a free CDMA phone. I got the case number and gave them my information and she told me i should receive it within 5-7 Business days. 1 hour 9 minutes

I didn't get my v950 on the plan but i now have a new CDMA phone (she didn't say which one it is) coming out. I did end up spending 2 hours and 2 minutes on the phone but at least now i've got a better starting point for when i decide to try this again.

The v950 is not listed in the FAQ so chances are that is not an allowed phone, even though you're getting a phone free if you happen to decide you want a different one please refer to the FAQ here ==>http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...ners-READ-THIS
before trying to activate a phone that is not allowed.

Thank you for that link. So as long as its a phone from that list then Boost will be able to use it? I figure they will send one of their cheapest phones so it's more then likely that it wont have the MP3 player (which is something i need) so i might end up getting one from that list.

The reason i thought that i could use a V950 with boost is because user (777Braveheart) from here posted that his wife uses the v950 and they are both on Boost.

This is the link where he stats that his wife uses the v950 on the Boost network.

I have activated 3 Renegades on Boost. But unfortunately, it's like a few other Sprint phones... some work, some don't.

Yes but I'm sure there are a few that aren't listed. Also 777Braveheart's may have a different ESN prefix than your's like the TP2's. I would just go with one of the listed phones or PM DT.
EH he answered before I posted^^^^

Yes, we are very sure. And repairing an esn is not the same as cloning... even though it has the same steps.

Question I have a question that hasnt been asked or answered...

Ok, I understand everything everyone is saying about the swap and whatnot. But, I know when your doing a sprint to boost flash or clone, you need to start with one of the 3G models, the boost rant or incognito, otherwise you wont get 3G speeds. Does the same apply here? If I use the method above, and lets say i start with either a non 3g CDMA model, or even just start with a normal iden motorola i410, and activate lets say a Sprint Hero, or other sprint phone, am I going to have 3G speeds, and be on the evdo network?

The purpose of borrowing a MEID or activating an iDEN phone is to serve as a placeholder in Boost's system, so you can activate an account and then harass their tech support until they swap your MEID to the phone you want to use (for example, a TouchPro 2).
This has no relation whatsoever to altering a MEID so Boost sees the phone as something in their whitelist. As long as the MEID on the phone matches what's on the label (and it's a real factory label, obviously), you'll get whatever speeds the phone is capable of once it's on Boost.

Just FYI, the Hero can't be added to a Boost account no matter how many times you harass customer support, so don't bother. It's "not on the list", so to speak.

mod edited: please take the time to read the forum rules. Cloning is not something you will receive instructions for here.

I think you misunderstood me. I never once asked for instructions on anything. I actually said I believe I already know how to do what it is i need to do. I was just trying to clarify the differences between cloning and just doing a regular call to boost cs to have a sprint phone placed on your account. Theres plenty of other sites out there that are very clear as to how to do different procedures and processes with your phone, but Im always trying to learn everything i can before I jump in. I would like to try this method also, but i only have 2 HTC Hero's, as this wasnt my preplanned method, so I didnt prepare properly for it. I have heard about it, and seen it on YouTube, but never believed it, plus they never went into specific details like you guys have. So I guess ill pick myself up a couple HTC Touch Pro 2's on ebay. If anyone has one, or even two, stock HTC TP2's they want to sell me, message me and we can get a deal going. The reason I ask for two is one for me, one for my daughters mother.

I think there's a zero tolerance policy in effect for anything to do with what you're talking about buddy.
