I am going to be doing a phone with this method. When I use a SIM-ID/IMEI pair, how quickly must I succeed in moving on to putting the CDMA phone on the account? Is it a problem (other then wasting a little service time on an account I pay for but cannot yet use) if I need to try several customer service agents, and I end up taking a couple of days, having one of these SIM-ID/IMEI pairs on my account? If I have a SIM-ID/IMEI pair on my account, do I tie it up for other's use until I get the CDMA phone on it? What happens if someone else picks the same pair while I am doing mine?
Thanks

After I tried about 3 of the SIM-ID/IMEI combinations from the first post of this thread that turned out to all be in use and then entered a fourth, I got a message "System roadblock. Activation Error. We are having a little difficulty processing your request. Please come back and try again later. If you problem persists, you can call Boost Care to activate your phone."
I then quit my browser, threw away my cookies and started back up to try more number combinations and I got the message on the second try.
I think we could use some more here, pleaseOriginally Posted by deathtrip
It looks like you cant just repeat stuff many times anymore unless you got a bunch of different IP addresses handy or can reset your modem for a new one. The message I see when a combo don't work is "SIM ID provided is already in use by another customer. Please call Boost Care to activate this." I wonder, if when we hit the roadblock message, we should start over with a new IP address and not just toss the cookies, so the account once created don't look bogus?Originally Posted by deathtrip
You'll need to get your own IMEI to use...

Please clarify.
1) When I see the message "SIM ID provided is already in use by another customer" after I enter the SIM ID and IMEI on the first screen, what is really being checked?
a) The combination of SIM ID and the IMEI are both in use by the same other customer?
b) The SIM ID by itself is in use by another customer who may be using a different IMEI than I entered?
c) The IMEI by itself is in use by another customer who may be using a different SIM ID than I entered?
2) Are you saying I can no longer combine any SIM ID with any IMEI (subject to the check for current use), and that I need a new IMEI, rather than one already posted on these forums? Under what conditions can an IMEI be reused? Should I just go read one off a phone box in Walmart, leaving the product on the shelf, or will that hurt the person who buys that phone, or hurt my new account when some buys and tries to activate the phone I look at? I don't really want to buy (and waste away) an iDEN phone just to get an IMEI.
3) What do you know about the new roadblock message after several tries on the SIM/IMEI pair entry screen?
4) Also, I assume the new activation numbers you just posted are in order to go with the SIMS right?
Thanks
You can use any combonation of SIM IDs, IMEIs and Activation Numbers.
The Roadblock error is just something that shows up when the system gets overloaded, just refresh.
If a SIM ID is in use, move on, if an IMEI is in use, again, move on. There are several floating around.
The system reports if the IMEI is in use, or if the SIM Card is in use (active).
Ok so I didnt know where else to post this since it is the closest thread I could find so heres where i'm at
1. I had Boost iDen service and had a boost cdma phone laying around
2. I called Boost and had my service upgraded to cdma with a boost w385
3. Now I have called about 15 times trying to get them to do an ESN swap with a samsung instinct I have talked to reps and managers who claim they are trying the ESN and get no errors when putting it in but then they give me an excuse like it won't let us pick a plan for it or it will go through then after they submit everything it comes back as the phone is not compatible.
4. I tried the sprint.com method for doing the ESN swap but even when I try to register for my 1st account on there it tells me that sprint.com cannot show me information pertaining to my phone.
I'm just trying to get some insight here or some help I've seen on the list of compatible phones the instinct is there and not everyone has success with it but according to what boost is telling me it should work as the ESN goes through without errors. Also the phone was mine and I have called sprint to verify a valid ESN
Thanks deathtrip, one of your new SIM numbers worked. The corresponding activation number was indicated as used and rather than playing games with more SIM/Activation combos, I just clicked to activate without an activation number. Same $10 fee as to reuse a number anyway. I chose PayGo and funded my account and notice it says my balance expires 9/22. Why is that not the full 90 days its supposed to be for PayGo customers?
Time to move on to activate my Diamond. I understand that unlike some of the other phones such as Instinct that diamonds have a very high success rate, right (but I may still need to try with several customer service agents to get one who is willing to do it)? I know mine has clear MEID.
The Sprint.com method has not worked in months, they blocked out Boost users with the new website update. And I can tell you now that the Instinct you have will never be able to be put on Boost. No one has a clear reason why but some Instincts just can't be used on Boost. The problem you describe, them not being able to select a price plan is the exact error you get on some of the TP2 and Instinct phones. Trust me, when they say it won't let them pick a price plan, that means it won't work, no matter if the ESN they entered doesn't error or not.
Time to get a different phone, no ifs ands or buts.
Your Diamond, if it has a clean ESN will be just fine. As for the option to not enter an activation number, that's probably new because I've never seen it before you mentioned it today. Also as for the date your balance expires, not sure about that either, maybe they're doing away with 90 accounts?
ok i ve read the whole post........i am on iden now, want to switch over to cdma and port my number. can it all be done online, or will i have to go through cs?
OK ive read everything and ill just say im dumb lol. I currently have a boost i465. I just got a sprint blackberry curve 8330. looking to migrate/move my boost to the blackberry. here's my problem. ive called boost and they keep transfereing me to their BB dept. shutdown every time i try. also i've read i need to update/change service books etc for all the features to work. Do I need to do all of this first before migrating or after?? Also i had one rep who asked for a DEC number, and she said it starts with 268 wtf is that?? Any help is greatly appreciated. If i could talk to someone who did this or can help me that'd be awesome. Ill even leave my number. TEXT ONLY 323-508-5404
I now have a free IMEI number and associated SIM number(used SIM) for a phone (Nextel i335) that I have not yet given to a deserving homeless person and the DEC ESN of a Sprint Sanyo Kaytana Eclipse(formerly Boosted) that are all free and clear. Would it be of any help to anyone here to post them? I'll have another set for a Boost i335 next week after I Boost a data phone for a friend.
By the way, for anyone who is concerned about this procedure no longer working, I just switched from my i335 to a mogul. When the CSR asked about what handset I'm switching to, I told him I have no idea, I got it from a friend, who's daughter had it sooooooo covered with stickers, I have no idea who makes it... but my friend assured me it's a Boost CDMA phone. He laughed and just asked me for the DEC ESN. I think it was the same guy I dealt with last time, from the Dominican Republic. He's a GREAT GUY so make sure you give him a great report when the survey call comes. I'm going to call next week, after the survey call and talk to his supervisor and say great and wonderful things about him. He keeps a lot of customers for Boost, being HELPFUL!!!

I'm in shape... Round's a shape
LOL don't put too much into it man. You may not even get a survey but let me assure you that you need not draw attention to yourself or to him.
Just move along and enjoy the service.
Hi new member here, but I've been reading this forum in general for over 2 years that's how long it's taken me to be comfortable enough to post and not look like a total fool. From what I can tell DeathTrip is the most knowledgable poster to these forums and is very helpful to those that refuse to read the entire threads even though it's their own fault....this said I hope other posters do not annoy DT to the point he becomes like a moderator I've noticed who in my opinion was just rude to people when all he had to do was point them to the FAQ. If you read the threads and stickies(i know it's alot.... see my first sentance)you wont need to ask many questions, less questions means they will have more time for important questions. BTW I was wondering if you all think the 3 day wait for service should be added to the FAQ? Seems like that's the new "can I put a boost iden sim in a sprint phone or will the 8520/30 work with boost?" question and it's likely to piss people off asking a thousand times ....just my 2 cents.
