I have a friend's VX8560 (LG Chocolate) that will not power on when unplugged, but will boot to the Verizon logo screen when plugged into USB or power adapter from outlet. But it only boots for 5-10 seconds and then restarts. It does this in a loop continuously. If I take the battery out and hold the power button for 30 seconds, I can get it to boot once without being plugged in, but it only goes to the Verizon logo and then shuts off. After that I have to take out the battery and hold power again to repeat the process.

I'm wondering a few things, but these are the two that are most important:

1) Anyone else have this problem? I've heard about a flex cable causing it, but nothing exactly like this

2) Is there a restore or safe mode that I can boot the phone into so I can connect it to the computer to restore firmware / software?
