Going to be interesting to see what this does to the tablet price point as some of these look like real competition to the iPad, whereas what I was seeing before was really cheap, low speced devices.

While I like what I am seeing, I put these in a completely different category than the Streak.

According to this article by Engadget the Compal (a.k.a. Aigo) tablet device is supposed to be around $300. IMO it is a direct competitor to the Dell Streak.

if that tablet does come out for 300 dollars it'll be a buy for me.

but i've seen enough of these prototypes to know it mayh not come out and if it does it wo't live up to the hype or price will go up dramaticlly

300 eh crazy, might be another vaporware though there have been so many of those of this type that never actually go anywhere. Looks decent though, bezel seems like it might be a little big, but you do need something to hold onto.

What you fail to realize is that all those tablets are for the Asia market, those won't see North American shores unless you get it from eBay or some other site. Personally, I'm so ready to get the Dell Streak but if you're looking for a tablet, you're probably better off with an iPad or you can wait until Q4 this year or Q1 of 2011 to see what the competition releases.

I really think that the Dell Streak is a smartphone first and if you look at it from that perspective, it's a great device. If you're looking at it as a tablet, there's other options out there.

Watched the video, and unless I'm missing something I didn't see a single one on there I could fit in my pocket, and nothing mentioned about any of them being a phone as well. So I'm not seeing why I would want to wait for one of these anyways.
Until one comes out that fits in my pocket and is a phone as well, I don't consider it a competitor. So far Sony is the only company that has anything rumored in the same size that I've seen. As much as Dell is pushing the tablet angle, I see most people purchasing them as smart phone more then a tablet.

Yup! While tablets are cool, they are in a different portability space than smartphones. To me, there are devices which are portable (must fit in a pocket) and devices that are not. I own a number of data devices that fall into the not category and have a number of gadget bags in increasing size/capacity to carry them. However, the portable device is with me almost 100% of my waking hours, the other devices I only bring with me occasionally if I know I am going to need them or an planning a trip that includes their use (like browsing at the coffee shop, or working tethered at my son's hockey practice).

In my happy little world, the Dell Streak in the biggest smartphone currently available and there is currently no real competitor since the Evo will not work in Canada and everything else is 3.7" and smaller screen size. Tablets need not apply to the party.
