I got my Incredible to pair with my 2009. Just follow the on screen instructions. Not intuitive but it works fine.Hands down the phone book and everything. Figure the EVO should be the same.
Yea, 2.1 and Sense. Its a great phone! Actually, to call this device a phone is an insult. Its really is a micro computer. 90% of my usage has nothing to do with phoning. Just wish it had the 4.3 inch screen the EVO has!!!
Any luck with the pairing to the BMW. I have a 2007 335i and cannot get the car to even recognize my Evo let alone pair with it. I have had no problem pairing it with the truck or the bt headset.
That's the problem I had with my G1 -wouldn't even recognize it. BMW may make the world's best driving machine, but their electronics are crap - that's why I didn't buy iDrive.
Anyway, combined with more than doubling my monthly cost to abandon SERO, this is the straw that may break the camel's back.
Although I wonder why an Incredible will pair, but an EVO will not
Ok now I feel dumb. I paired my evo with my truck and my ear bud but when I went to pair it with my BMW I would go through all the steps and it seemed like the phone and BMW were not talking but in reality the BMW was showing up on my evo screen but it was under the first two paired devices off the bottom of the screen so I actually had to scroll down to see it. I didn't figure this out until I deleted the ear bud BT on the evo and all of a sudden the BMW took its place.
I have since tethered the BT ear bud back to the evo and this time I scrolled down while I was searching for devices and there it was. Now everything works fine.
Hope this helps avoid someone else some stupid embarrassment.
D@mn. I think I was looking for a (poor) excuse not to abandon my cheapo SERO plan and get an EVO and the inability to pair with my BMW was going to be it.
At the dealership, they could pair the phone, but my phone book in the car's display was all messed up (it skipped letters of names, I couldn't call certain people, etc.) Is there a way to pair the phone, and the phone book so that everything's in sync? I don't want to have to get another phone, but if it won't pair in my car, it's worthless to me.
I have the Sprint HTC EVO 4G with my 2007 BMW 328xi
The phone works great with calls over bluetooth. Everyone says they can hear me and it's easy to answer calls.
My two issues are:
- When I hit the phone button it always dials the same person, I want to redail or be given a choice.
- MAJOR: i can't get my address book (phone book) into the car. It has like one number and when someone calls it will show their name but that's about it. Usually just shows a number not even a name.
Any suggestions would be awesome! I use the phone all the time but even bought a owners manual and it doesn't have anything in it about the hands free. Been searching the web but...

The Evo does support the PBA bluetooth profile, so it is capable of transferring the phone book to another device connected... The car may be acting goofy. If I remember, when I had my 335 and x5, I had to tell the car to transfer it to internal memory.. I had iDrive in both cars so it was a bit easier.. not sure if you have iDrive.
Also IIRC, the phone button always redials.. but I could be mistaken. It's been 2 years since I've had a bimmer.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I actually got the phonebook in, I don't have iDrive, I wish I did.
I found though that for some reason it was only showing 1 call the first one I made in the recent call list and 2-5 or whatever where blank even though I had placed and answered many calls. So that is why when I hit the phone button it was redialing what it thought was the most recent. I cleared it all so have to see if that reset it and now it's working right or not.
Just curious if you had a 335 and X5, what are you driving now? =)
The x5 man I'd love to have one of those with the running boards and the big tires. They are sweet! I like the X6 to it's pretty slick and the 6 series, heck I like BMW haha.
Glad to hear you got it up & running. I had a 335 with premium/sport/convenience package + paddle shifters, iDrive/navi, harman kardon audio, and a few other features. My x5 was a v8, technology/premium/premium sound/ventilated seats, with navigation.
I got rid of it because computer issues.. was a terrible truck.. I flipped my 335, lol.. traded it in for that x5.
Right now, I have a hyundai genesis. so far, it's been the best car I've owned... and since 2006, I've had a acura tl, 2 acura mdx's, a mini cooper s, the 335 and x5, and a v10 touareg. (all new)...
The genesis has been problem free, and is just a blast to drive
I have a 335xi coupe without iDrive (as mentioned above). My EVO pairs with it and I can receive calls and make them using the BMW voice recognition by using my previously input names and number or just saying the phone number.
Since that satisfied my basic needs I have not tried to input the EVO's phone book. How did you do it?
