Will Any WIND Phone Work on Telus Too?

In some areas I go, there is Telus service and no Rogers ( or wind roaming obviously )
Are there any Wind phones that would work on the Telus network as well?
I have looked on different sites and it is a bit confusing with all the bands etc...
I just want voice and text on Telus.
I figured someone on here would know the answer for this.

    Thanks for the help.

    Wirelessly posted (Nokia E71-2: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-us; SonyEricssonX10a Build/R1FA014) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)

The Nokia is the only phone that would work on TELUS as it has the 850 3g band.

The 5230? OK. Does Wind lock them?

That information is inaccurate. Telus uses 850 in some areas and 1900 in others, and Wind's Nokia 5230 only has 850. So, that phone will work in SOME of Telus' HSPA+ aka 3G+ network only. AFAIK, there is NO phone that works on both Wind and Telus' CDMA aka PCS/1X/3G (no plus) network.

As for unlocking, Wind's policy used to be that it would unlock phones after three months of service. No idea if they still honour that. Your best bet would be to ask before buying.

    Technology: UMTS = Pass.
Frequency: 1700MHz. Telus is 850 and 1900 MHz. Fail.
Permission: Wind don't have roaming agreements with Telus (AFAIK). Fail.

Not quite. The 850 band is enough, you only need one of the two.
Please don't PM me asking questions that could very easily be asked publicly.

Band I/1 = IMT, 2100 (rarely wrongly referred to as 1900/2100)
Band II/2 = PCS, 1900 (never wrongly referred to as 1800/1900)
Band III/3 = DCS, 1800 (never wrongly referred to as 1700/1800)
Band IV/4 = AWS, 1700 (often wrongly referred to as 1700/2100)
    Band V/5 = CLR, 850
    Band VIII/8 = GSM, 900

    The Rogers Lumia 710 only has 1, 2, 4, 5

That doesn't change the roaming agreement issues.

    Um.

Kier I think you are misreading this thread, this thread is about whether any phone from Wind will work on Telus, which was answered with the Nokia. Not whether Wind will roam on Telus or not

I was in the WIND store a few days ago and the employees were telling customers that if you unlocked any WIND phone you could use it on Telus, Bell or Rogers, and they you can use it everywhere in Eurpoe. Is that true? I dont think it is.....but I could be wrong....

They'll all "work" on Rogers (GSM, not UMTS), and probably everywhere in Europe. But aside from the Nokia, I don't think any phones will work on Bell or Telus.

you can use the nokia on telus but you will only have coverage in some of the areas. The Nokia N8 that is coming out will work on Wind's 1700band and robellus's 850band
