Where's the dialtone?
I researched some of the posts and was seeing if you could help/point me in the right direction.
I have an EVO 4G that has been flashed and currently activated on PP (formerly Sprint).
NB: During the process I had an option of choosing a PRL that gave a 3G icon on my phone but roaming as well....or 1x icon with no roaming.
I also have a rooted (CM7) Droid Eris (formerly Verizon) phone that is currently activated on PP that carries the 3G icon when connected to the internet.
Are there any simple steps to get 3G on my EVO 4G? (I'll worry about 4G later lol). I tried following one of the steps above using my Droid Eris to connect to QPST but I can't put it in DIAG mode (maybe b/c it's not a sense ROM)? Anyways, if I put a sense ROM on it, can I follow the instructions above and then still be able to use my Droid Eris after getting the necessary information?

Is goonygugle's method confirmed working for most people?

However, it requires a donor phone, and I would rather not have to buy a donor. Goonygugle's method sounds much easier.
Why does one method need a donor and another not? What's the theory behind the different methods?

I can confirm his method works on the Sprint Evo 3D. I think the key item is the DMU 10.key file and M.IP settings, so I'm not entirely certain the writing of his NVItems is necessary if you've already manually set everything up in QPST (and writing his NVItems will require you to redo it), but I followed his directions to the letter and 3G works, verified using a Net monitor app and also Speedtest app.

I have looked at two different Droids and the IMSI_S on the CDMA-2 tabs is always 0000000000. Did anyone else experience this? Also I dont know what version of CDMA Workshop to use, it says the NV file is invalid.

out of topic but i would like to switch carriers i have sprint with my htc evo 3d and the bill is getting high i want to switch to page plus just for talk and text dont need data can i do it without flashing it. im new to this and have no idea of what to do thanks

You can do the following:
1. Get your MSL, the use CDMA Workshop to make it six zeros (if you don't have CDMAWS, use the phone to program as shown below).
2. Flash 54125m.prl to your phone using CDMA workshop or QPST, or use ##PRL# from the phone's dialer.
3. Port your number to pageplus, and ask them for the MIN and MDN.
4. Use QPST to put your MIN and MDN in the phone, or do so via the programming menu (##yourmsl#).
5. To get data, follow goonygugle's method... you'll need CDMAWS AND QPST.
"Flashing it" is a generic term, and actually, you're simply writing new values to the radio, not "flashing" the phone. You can get talk and text from the dialer codes in the phone, but you will need to get your MSL (Master Subsidy Lock Code) before doing anything else.
To dispel myths for anyone else reading this, you DO NOT need a donor phone to get EvDo. If you program correctly, your phone will generate its own set of authentication hashes. The key lies in putting a file in the DMU folder on the phone, called 10.key. Since some people on here offer this as a paid solution, I will not cut into their profits with exact instructions.

any way, my point being I appreciate the inexcusable banter since I am also a newbie and don't get how it works yet either. I'm happy for tid-bits of helpful insight, wherever I can get them.

I still have not been able to lay hands on a phone that doesnt have all 0's in the IMSI_S field on the CDMA-2 tab. I have looked at a Droid X and a Droid 2, both of which have working 3g. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I already have the evo. My sprint account expired two days ago and instead of upgrading from the evo, which I'd love to do when I can afford it I plan to just take it to pp. So, I am very interested in your help when I am ready to do it. I'm a little afraid of it but I guess I am familiar with androids enough that with proper guidance I could get through it. The thing is, I'm opposite of most. I really do care about the data, in fact I can't even use talk and text while I'm at home since there is no service, but I do use my evo a lot to surf and check email/facebook....changing the data settings is crucial for me. Can I let you know when I'm ready and see if we can set up a time to chat me through it? sounds like maybe there are a few of us..maybe you could do a webinar!!!!

OK I've got a few hours invested in just reading this thread! So is there somewhere/someone reliable that I can have my evo flashed and reprogrammed completely ready to go on PP with 3g and the correct PRL at a reasonable price? I don't want to spend the next year doing it myself! I am sure t would be lots of fun and all, I am just busy with other "projects".
