Yes you will need to set up the drivers on the pc you are using to flash. Step by step directions can be found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=cdma+workshop
You will have to flash the prl in CDMA WS.
In CDMA click on "Port" and if the HTC drivers are set up right you should see a choice that says HTC something. Click on that then click connect and read. I don't think you phone will be on com1. I believe you are getting the phone does not answer message because your phone is not on com1. Mine was com4.
You need to have the phone on and connected via usb and dial ##3424#. Then you can go into CDMA WS.

Runner web speeds r slow compared to a Verizon phone and mms is still spoty. U will get a connection error a lot of the time but just wait a minute I go to the home screen so I can sew the info bar at top n c when 3g kicks in then open web and go to page wanted. It's a.real pita
Use WiFi as much as possible

I can concur that the web speeds seem slow. I have my mobile web on a switch to preserve data and battery life. I just switch it on when I want to use it and wait maybe 5-10 seconds then open the browser/email/etc. Once I had my mms set up I have not had any problems with them.
Are you using the APN from earlier posts on this thread? I don't get many mms so Mayb the some of them were to big Idk. I can send mms fine but get errors sometimes but like.I said I don't do much pic msging

Just to check, did you download the APN Backup and Restore from the Market or another website and manually install it. I first downloaded it from a website and installed it through htc sync and couldn't get it to work. Then I installed it from the market and everything worked well.
Aanders when I connect my phone to the computer. Should it be in charge only, htc sync, disk drive, or usb tether mode?
If you are going to be using cdma ws or qpst, then it should be charge only. Then dial the ##3424# to put it in diag mode.
I'm getting three error messages when cdma starts to to boot..
The window says in the title bar of the message box ( windows - no disk ) then Exception processing message c0000013 PERAMETERS 75B6BF7C 4 75B6BF7C 75B6BF7C I hit continue and the message pops back 3 times with me hitting continue each time then cdma loads up.
Have you heard of this?
I'm on XP and downloaded the freebe cdma from cdma-ware.com and have the phone in diag mode.
Also when I connect the port to com 1 it says connected. But(read )says phone does not answer.
Am I supposed to change the phone to com1 on the physical phone like we would do with modems?
I don't find a place I can do that in the setup of the phone so I think your going to say no.
and no- when I click on port I only get com1 - communications port Com7 - conexant 56k aclink modem.
the way I installed the htc diag driver was by installing HTC program then uninstalling HTC but leaving the drivers on the disk.
I looked in the folder and opening the files they read the same as the files in htc diag file that the xda developers instructions say to download.
So assuming that the drivers are not the same then I went to uninstall the htc driver that was left installed when I uninstalled the htc program, but, it will not uninstall.
So I decided I need to reload windows on this pc to try again.
Now, I pulled out another laptop that I have not plugged the evo into yet.
I started through the xda developers instructions.
put the evo in diag mode then connected to pc.
the instructions say the pc probably won't load the drivers which it would not. So XP installed the device as a ADB device.
So I right click on the ADB icon and it pops up the widow for me to choose the hardware device. The closest thing I could find that described the phone was at the very bottom it says (windows CD usb device) I chose this but it says this is not the device.
At the top of the list is 1394 debugger device, 61883 device class, AVC device class I wonder if it is one of these?

I have Downloaded APN Backup and Restore from the market but I have a copy on my pc as well I Flash quite a few HTC's so it comes in handy to have a copy on my desktop so I dont have to put my email in customers phones. But I dont use HTC SYNC I just put the phones in Disk Drive mode and put what ever I need on the sd card. I have never connected a phone VIA HTC SYNC. I dont even have it on my pc. I downloaded it & uninstalled it as soon as it was finished. I downloaded it for the drivers only.

Do you have Unknown Apps & Debugging Chked under applications? They Need to b Chked when doin anything in DIAG Mode. Debugging Does I dont think the Unknown Apps Does but Leave it Chked so u have no issues when downloading apps later on. As for the Errors I have no idea where u are seeing them but u need to install the HTC sync program then uninstall it. It leaves the drivers u need behind DO NOT UNINSTALL THE DRIVERS LEAVE THEM. just unistall the HTC SYNC program which u can do thru ur start menu. Look for HTC SYNC then hover over it another menu will open and say uninstall click on it. then if u look again after the uninstall u will have just the drivers.
Im not to sure about the free version of cdma ws but u need to look in ur DEVICE MANGER find your Phone & make note of com port
If above Didnt work Google the Drivers or get them from XDA & Manually install. Quick Guide below It's been awhile so I dont remember every little step but this should b close enough for u to figure it out.
Look in your device manger & If you see a yellow ?(Question Mark) beside ur device u need to manually install the ADB Drivers. Right click and hit install and go to where ur drivers are and highlight and click ok it will start installing them it might stop a little ways thru asking for a certain file just navigate back in2 where ur drivers are and find that file & hit ok. after finished u should have ur ADB drivers.
PHONE NEEDS TO B IN DIAG MODE FOR PC TO GIVE U THE YELLOW ?.
About cdma WS I have never used the free version but u need to look and see what port your phone is on the free version may not go that high. My HTC's show up on ports 106 through 119 but I have a paid version so no issues for me.
As for setting up the data I said I would Post a link to the guide but it's in this thread on page 8 or maybe 13 thats all I have. I just Copied & pasted it n to a goog doc so I have it for later. It dont explain any thing what ur having issues with.
I have a Copy of ws 2.7 but cant post it here so pm with ur email & ill give u a link to it. It will say its a virus but its not I put it on my pc just to try it out & when I do remote work I use it on custy's pc's and it is fine.
Well this is kind of absurd. I have two laptops with XP on them a 1.8mhz hp and a 1.4 mhz gateway. Neither will show ports in device manager.
The older hp (1.2mhz I think) does show ports but will not show the htc under ports.
It's like one fumble after another.
I did load the htc program like you said then removed it and left the drivers.
i also put the phone in debugging mode and in diag mode. The phone is unlocked and in superuser mode.
hardware version is 0004, android 2.2 baseband 2.15.00.11.19, kernel 2.6.32.17-gee557fd,
build 3.70.651.1.cl294884 release keys, software 3.70651.1,
_003 prl version 60677, pri 1.90_003
So I have 3 laptops that won't read the phone.
Of course I'm using the ws 3.7.0 because I can't find the 3.5.5 anywhere.
Maybe 2.7 will work like you suggested.
The guide posted a few pages back only provides 1xRTT speeds. There is a dirty secret involved in getting an Evo fully (full EVDO speeds) working on Page Plus, which isn't part of the guide. Unfortunately, there is no howardforum-friendly version of the process - it involves a temporary clone to an official Verizon phone to "catch" the HA/AAA keys that are needed in order for EVDO to work. And since how-tos on cloning are verboten, you're stuck figuring this one out yourself.
I'm only explaining this to save anyone the headache of futzing endlessly with their Evo trying to get EVDO to authenticate. If you've followed the guide and your speeds aren't "3G", now you know why - and how the "big boys" are doing it. The other reason I want this to be known is because I'm rather annoyed at people* who know how this is all done, but refuse to come clean on it. Well, your cat is out of the bag now.
* I'm referring to the people on YouTube who post "How To" videos that are nothing more than an advertisement for their paid flashing services and act like their flashing process is some form of rocket science you have no hope of ever understanding.
