i776 HAB assert fail when powering on

Just bought a new boost mobile i776 and planned on unlocking it for use on Telus as a Mike phone.

When I powered it up it says

HAB assert fail
Ready to Program

Has anyone heard of this error or could explain it? I've done some searching but turned up nothing.

It said ready to program so I ran the CNS unlock on it, but still no luck. I'll return it if I have to or call motorola but I have to deal with the border crossing involved in that and that makes it much more time consuming if this is an easy fix.

Sorry if this seems like a noob question. I've done a pile of these phones for friends and family and never encountered this.
