They will just up the value of the phone to keep the ECF's high. Pearl 9100 will now be $499 etc, etc.
The old law... even you say cancel, you still have 30 days to undo the cancellation and continue your contract... So you won't afraid to say cancel to the retention REPs lol...
not gonna make a big difference...

Agreed 3 years is just nuts. The annoying part is that the subsidies are so much smaller if you go shorter. Telus is only $100/year for 1 or 2 years and Rogers seems to be worse with $50/year. Meanwhile they'll give you $400-500, about $150/year on the 3 years to push you towards it.
Of course they're making enough money on their plans to cover this $150/year no matter what, so cut the BS and give me $250-300 off on a 2 year contract which I would find much more palatable. I suspect part of only getting big breaks for 3 years is that they know it is an eternity and expect people to pay the ETFs.
Of course the ideal would be to get rid of contracts all together, cut service prices, call subsidies the loans that they are and replace ETFs with paying off your balance, but this will never happen because it would be too transparent.
I'm confused. I'm seeing people quoting posts that I can't see in this thread. I'm seeing 6 posts. Is this the case, or is there something wonky with my forum settings?
There is posts on other section of the forums about this new law.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, guys. Lol, I was really confused.
