iPhone 4 Applecare not needed if bought with AMEX??
I pre-ordered the iPhone 4 with my AMEX and the full amount has been charged. The AMEX CS reminded me since it's bought with the AMEX, they extend the Manufacturers Warranty 1 extra year. That makes it a total of 2 years.
SO, is it worth getting Applecare for it?

Hmm.. that's weird.. I have a Platinum Amex and it's not 3 yrs, but 1 yr... It covers theft and loss [misplaced] too.. However, AMEX will only
refund me the $199 or $299 I pay for the phone, full retail if that's what I pay, which is logical.. but I've seen people expecting otherwise!
Just need the original receipt for AMEX to process the claim.
Actually, you don't need the receipt. Amex can look up your purchase thru the transaction history. I had filed a claim on a TV last year and no receipt was needed. They did verify the purchase from the retailer [ Costco ]
In addition you get 90 days Buyer Protection which states if you accidentally break it, it gets stolen, or store refuses to refund it AMEX will cover the cost.
If you have the Platinum Amex, loss/breakage/theft/water damage/repairs including battery replacement is covered for 1 year after the manufacturer's warranty expires. I believe the loss/theft replacement kicks in from day one. It may be 90 days for other Amex cards though.
