Thanks.
But would this plan B work? > > Currently Rogers offer for the East is 400 minutes + choice of a feature for 25$+ GRRF + TAX. I don't need 400 minutes, even 100 minutes would be enough but I need unlimited incoming calls. Can I deal with retentions for something that includes unlimited incoming + some daytime minutes for 25$? Would it be advisable to call them directly and would they give in to somebody switching from prepaid?

i sent u a pm on rfd check it out.
These same sentiments have been echoed in here so many times, if u go back and read my earlier posts, I have stated very clearly the same as u are stating, but I can't figure out why people seem to be getting confused.
When u guys speak to reps, it is very unlikely they will just offer u credits out of the hat so that u can save as much as possible especially when u're trying to get onto the Unlimited plan. The plan itself is great for $50, so when they can give it to u, they are probably trying to match Wind or just offering it to u because u want more minutes. If someone has a $10 value pack credit, there is very good chance that they can offer it to u again. So when u hear a rep say that its not possible, u just need to convince them and make sense out of what u are asking for because u already have it.
Again, the Monthly plan credits can be renewed.
If u have a total of $40 in credit, and $20 is towards ur voice. The voice portion shud be no problem to renew.
If ur feature credits include the $10 value pack or data credit, u shud also be able to renew them.
If ur feature credits included Unlimited incoming, R2R, Early Evenings and weekends, My 5 or My 10 local, sorry u wont get anything for them as they become obsolete with the unlimited plan.
All u need to do is be reasonable, good luck
guys please throw some light into this
whats the whole deal with zoned?
are these plans zoned like the fido unlimited plans over at fido? meaning u can only use it in the city
No, these plans are like the original Fido unlimited retention plans offered in April and May of this year. The only difference is Fido had a choice of $50 unlimited voice (anywhere, no zones) or an $80 unlimited voice + unlimited SMS + 6GB data (also anywhere, no zones).
Only the new Fido retention plans offered after May 25th are now zoned like CityFido. Info here. Seems like someone in management realized just how smokin' awesome the original $80 plan was and decided to cut it down a notch...lol.
The Rogers versions are like the old Fido plans and just like any other regular plan: they apply in any local calling area. Long distance is still applicable unless you add an LD option.
"That 24-month period gave the incumbents all the time in the world to create the Chatrs of the world, create the Koodos of the world", Mr. Lacavera said, referring to the discount brands launched by Rogers and Telus in response to the threat from the new entrants.
All my posts are my own opinion only and not necessarily that of any of my employers, past or present.
FINALLY got this plan. Thanks everybody!
P.S. They wouldn't let me keep my monthly plan credit.
Just read this thread and it looks like there are two unlimited plans ($50 and $70) that seemingly differ on the scope of their coverage. I'm interested in the $50 plan, but was wondering what area is covered by this option? For someone in Oakville would it be their city, the GTA or Ontario?
Thanks
The $50 and $70 plan are the same. Also, what are you talking about when you say "covered by this option"? There are no zone-based restrictions on these plans. It is unlimited local calling anywhere on the Rogers network. Normal long distance rules and charges still apply. Your outgoing local calling area is based on where you are at that exact moment and your incoming local calling area is determined by the city of your phone number.
Thanks, computergeek541. There were reports earlier in the thread that the $70 option was for unlimited calling in Canada or that it included unlimited text.
Also, thanks for the explanation on the meaning of the unlimited plan. Essentially, you have unlimited time for any call classified as LOCAL (ie not long distance). Since I make a few calls each month to areas that are long distance from my location I'll be looking to get some long distance coverage as well on my new plan.
Had my first ever call with retentions and was offered the following two plans:
*Non-unlimited Plan - $77.58 + taxes
50 - Unlimited Incoming, 2000 Outgoing
30 - Data Service Plan
10 - Value Pack (2500txt/VM/CID)
2.58 - Govt Regulatory Recovery Fee
10 - 1000 Anytime CDN LD Mins
(15) - Savings: $15 Data Credit
(10) - Savings:1000 Anytime CDN LD Mins
*Unlimited Plan - $97.58 + taxes
50 - Unlimited Local Calling Plan
30 - Data Service Plan
10 - Value Pack (2500txt/VM/CID)
2.58 - Govt Regulatory Recovery Fee
10 - 1000 Anytime CDN LD Mins
(5) - Savings:1000 Anytime CDN LD Mins
As some others have reported, I was told that there were no credits/discounts allowed on the unlimited plan and that those that had them would have them removed during any future audits.
The first plan is very close to what I'm looking for except it's missing the unlimited outgoing which I only want for peace of mind. However, given that these offers are now attached to my account do you think I can stilll get them to include unlimited on plan 1?
Or, given that I've averaged only 700 TOTAL voice minutes a month over the past two years, should I be happy with the 2000 Outgoing/Unlimited Incoming and start looking at this from another angle by trying to get credited an easier feature like MY5?
Thanks again
