Reboot your phone. Others had this problem too, and powering it off, then back on fixed it.

I've been waiting for well over an hour for this sucker to activate. Do I need to be connected to itunes the whole time while I wait or can I disconnect and it's done OTA?

After trying many phones, the one phone that is worthy of this spot is the 6620!!

If you can play with the phone but it just says no service then you just have to wait unfortunately. I had several customers whose phones would not activate after waiting 20 minutes while others activated quickly or took around 10 minutes.

You just have to be patient.

Call AT&T and use the automation to activate the phone. I went through the same thing you are going through. Called AT&T and activated it in 2 minutes.

Tried it; no dice. Said I needed to speak with customer service and they said they can't activate me over the phone. It's comical.
