T-Mobile's Upcoming Samsung Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy S)

Anybody excited or getting the Samsung Vibrant? Comes with 720p HD video recording and a 4" screen. For Wind customers there's no iphone 4, no HTC Evo 4G, and no Motorola Droid X. 3 mega top super powerful smartphones. T-Mobile's release of Samsung Vibrant in July saves me.

It's pointless unless it's coming to Wind. Just like any other super phone, it won't work with Wind unless it's T-Mobile phone.

Not really, as we have no idea yet what if any North American carriers will pick up the Nokia N8. But, since it supports all North American 3G bands it does not matter as it will work just fine on any carrier here. So yes, generally speaking, if it works on Wind/T-Mobile USA on 3G it does not work in 3G on any other North American carrier, and if it works on 3G on any other North American Carrier it does not work on Wind/Mobilicity. But for every rule there is an exception lol

The tech blogs seem to think that the North American version is losing the front-facing camera.

Seems like a mistake to me - with the iPhone now having a front-facing camera, video chat will probably take-off in North America. And even if it doesn't, that camera will be a factor in a lot of people's decision-making.

I read the Samsung Galaxy S doesn't have flash for the camera, but Samsung Vibrant suppose to. I'm sure it will have front camera to compete with iPhone 4.

This phone looks awesome. But I wonder how much it'll cost on Wind.

here it is folks, the upcoming Samsung Vibrant(a Samsung Galaxy S phone) http://galaxy-s.t-mobile.com/

No led flash and no front camera. Who cares, I still want it. It's rare to have a powerful that works with Wind.

Couldn't care less about the front facing camera. My last two phones had it. Never used it once. Even with the iPhone 4 it won't matter. It's only iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 and only when you have wifi. I think most people will be lucky to make a Facetime call once a month.

Also, there are reports saying that Facetime uses up 4-5MB per minute. Even if you have wifi, just imagine what it would do to your internet data cap/usage to use that on a frequent/regular basis.

Websites that sell unlocked phones, eBay, Craigslist, or drive down to the States and get it at Best Buy. It'll probably cost $649-$699. Same price as iPhone 4.

I picked up a t-mobile from the Pacific Mall for $550 including a case and car charger, check all the venders as the price range from 550-650. If you have no luck let me know I have their contact info.

The iPhone costs WAY more than that, 699 is the price of a 3GS I think

This phone will probably be 450 off contract with T-mobile

I think you're probably right. The HD 2, Touch Pro 2, and garmifone are all $199.99 with 2 year contract. and $449.99 without a contract. Since the Vibrant's also $199.99 with a 2 year contract, then it makes sense for the vibrant to be $449.99 as well.
