Martin, I have successfully activated 2 BB's on Boost with help from your outline -thx! Last time though the phone rebooted 2 times! The CS guy was totally onto what I was trying to do...anyway, my big Q is should I expect it to reboot atleast once? Of course this is a pain since it takes soooooo long for a 9630 to come back up! The CS guy was like "has it rebooted yet?"....he totally figured out what I was doing but was cool about it
anyway, suggestions please (anyone). I am calling tonight after 930et
Scott

awesome idea! will try that! thx DT
My friend has a boost blackberry. I just sold him my TP 2 that i recently had activated on my boost account 3 weeks ago. Correct me if im wrong but shouldnt we be able to just call boost and have them put the TP2's ESN on his account tonight? They should give us the MDN and MSID to put in and the phone should provision over his account automatically moving him down to the $50 a month instead of $60 for the blackberry? Or just use DT's site and pay $10 for them to do it?

Actually, since it's on the Boost Blackberry plan, you'll need to swap the device to a real Boost (non Blackberry) phone, then call up and do the change to the Sprint phone.![]()
No actually it went thru on the first try just like when i previously activated it on my account. I was acually honest with the CSR to a certain extinct. I told her i perviously activated it on my account and now im givin to a friend and would like to activate it on his.
She got a SUPE to help her switch his service plans and credit his account, put him on the $2 a day plan. She then credit his account for $22 because he still had 11 days on his acount to his next bill. She then informed me that his plan will change back over to $50/shrinkage when he pay his bill.
Everything went thru smooth. I made $200 off that TP2. Im gonna miss it because all i went thru to put it on boost, to get MMS, dual boot XDA android. But he's coming from a boost wackberry so i know he's happy. I made some money back on my EVO Shift so Im very happy.
But anyway I guess you dont need to switch back over to a regular boost cdma phone from a Boost Wackberry to get your TP2 on boostmobile!
I just signed up for Boost on Monday (damn, bad timing) and tried to activate a Sprint Palm Treo Pro. Called 4 times, but they say that it's a Sprint phone and they can't put it on the network. Per instructions, I was acting dumb and said it's some "old Boost phone" that I don't know the model of.
This really sucks, because I already paid for my first month and had my number transferred over from T-Mo prepaid. So now I have $50 sitting at Boost doing nothing, and no cell phone serviceFeel like going back to T-Mo, but that would be a step back and a waste of $50. Crap!
Wait, I'm confused now. I followed the steps in the FAQ and got an iDen account started (with reactivation b/c I don't have an actual sim card). So I've been calling in to migrate from iDen to CDMA and use this Sprint Treo Pro.
Are you saying that I'm gonna need a Boost CDMA phone, get it activated and then swap ESN numbers between that and the Sprint Treo? Isn't it a) illegal (ok, not using a Boost phone on Boost is probably illegal too, but ESN swaps are like...really illegal lol) and b) hard to do? Thanks!
Edit: or could it be that the Treo Pro isn't yet banned and I'm just getting a string of "bad" CSRs?
I think you misunderstood fonz. What you have to do is activate a Boost CDMA ESN before you call back and swap phones on your account to the Sprint phone.
Example: When we got my wife set up a month ago or so, I called and had her number brought over from Sprint and had a Boost Sanyo Mirro that we activated for her. Then we called back a few days later (it doesn't have to be a few days) and got her Sprint Treo Pro activated.
There are many people on here who will let you borrow an ESN so you can activate a real Boost phone. You might have to pay $10 reactivation fee. After you get that activated, hang up. THEN call back to try to get the Treo Pro activated. (that is IF it is still possible at all) Good luck and let us know if it works for you if you try!
He already has a boost account. That's all he needs. Now just do the device swap. The Treo Pro doesn't seem to be affected yet, I swapped mine back in just a while ago with no problems.
If you can't do it then let me know.

Thank you! I'll try again in the morning. Is there a particular way to address the CSRs to improve my chances? The ones I've spoken to have been pretty nice, but no dice. What's your secret?
P.S. I used your ESN checker when buying my Treo Pro (used). Super helfpul! Thanks for all your contributions to the community! I'd gladly donate, but whatever I could give this month went to the Japanese people...
I understood what (incomplete) information poster released completely. It wasn't until after I responded that he put down anything about iden and all that other crap. I know perfectly well that you need an active Boost cdma account activated with a legit Boost cdma original phone esn before you can swap it out to a Sprint phone. I thought I made that pretty clear in my statement.
Glad to hear that Treo appears to be working but not 100 percent there either.
At this point, I'm just not going to worry about it. This thread would have over 100 posts right now if it were as critical as Page Plus's situation was back in the day.
If anything else happens, please post but right now I don't think I'll be too worried about Boost cdma byod unless I were a TP/TP2 owner.

Ok, I think I understand a little bit better what I need to do now. Fonz - sorry if I offended you by my previous post. No offense intended
To do the iDEN->CDMA change (with a clean Boost ESN), do I need to speak to a CSR, or can I do it through Boost's website by adding in that ESN under "handset activation"? If I do need to speak to a rep, will I get asked to program the phone manually and confirm something with them? Or will the phone "program itself" and hang up? Because if I don't have the actual (legit Boost) phone...Also, how long is it advisable to wait between the change to CDMA and trying to activate a Sprint phone? HC21 mentioned days, but that seems on the long side.
