Alright, I got it activated. Interestingly though it would not work with my current phone number, the rep had to change it to get it to work. Here's my theory. THey flagged my account/number one of the times I tried activating the phone; this would explain why during the last 2 phone calls the reps said no there's a note here that says you've tried activating this sprint phone before and we can't do it. Don't know if that's the case for everyone with the TP2's but it was mine.
Huh,
well there's no charge on my account. I just don't understand what he would gain from needlessly changing my number if he was going to activate the phone anyway; oh well.
Step by step instructions to activating a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 on Boost.
Hey, I'm curious to how to activate a HTC Touch Pro 2, on Boost. I don't quite understand how to do this thus my reply. Right now I have a Motorola i335 with Sprint. Should I go to boost switch over to them? I'm unsure how to do this. When purchasing a HTC Touch Pro 2, what should I look for? Thanks.

Get the ESN and check it with DeathTrip's ESN checker if it's good follow the FAQ instructions then search for TP2 MMS fix and read up on it and you should be good if not search feature will find any info you need.
Then end up back in this thread and read the first post
As for the phone itself...do the ESN check and if you're meeting up with someone off Craigslist, play with the phone for a little while and see if it's responsive or if it freezes. Use the touchscreen and the press the physical keys. Open a few apps at once like the browser, music player, SMS, etc and see if it locks up.
Hi I hope I am not bothering yall this is my first time messaging and I am a newbie I read a bunch of the info that was on here bout using a sprint phone on the boost network and I have found this to be the most insightful than all the other junk I have found on the net. I am glad I kept looking lol. so thanks for the good info. my question is I already have a boost account iden user and my friend is upgrading her phone so she is giving me her bb 8330 since I have an account already can I just add it over the net?
No, the only way to activate the phone is to call in and have it done, or use any one of the hundreds of services out there who do it for you, for a fee.
I activated a Boost W385 with the unlimited plan. 2 hours later I called CS and asked them why my payment hadnt posted since 2 hours had passed by, his answer was because you havent paid the activation fee.
Then he asked "Is there anything else that I can help you with?" so I said "YES" "I dont really like this phone, Can I do a ESN swap?, he said "sure". I gave him the ESN for my HTC MOGUL, Then he asked "what type of phone is this?" I told him "the phone is kind of old and I cant see the model number anywhere". so He activated it. Internet works and and I can send MMS
Problem is. When receiving a MMS.
I only receive a broken link from mediamail. I have read alot on the forums and I found out that this is happening because I activated my account with a W385
: I think the problem is that when the CSR swaped my ESN, the settings for the Mogul didnt stick right as they should of.
So I called CSR again (Week L8R) I told him my the problem with the broken link, and I asked him kindly if he could refreshed my phone settings.(This happens with a lot with Cricket). He asked me to hold on. 2mins passed. How? Where? Who actitivated this phone? I was like I told him that I bought it @ a store and that i would be taking the phone back I lied.
Question is: How can I get the phone settings refreshed to the mogul settings? Or can I fix the broken link Issue?
I hope this help someone else:
Moral of the story Dont use an old Boost phone to start your account with.
It has nothing to do with the activation phone you used. A Sprint phone is not set up to use the Boost gateway for sending/receiving MMS.
Check out this thread for some tweaks you can do to your phone to get MMS working properly. Don't bother calling tech support. There is nothing they can do for you. It's up to you to fix it on your Sprint phone.
The phones that receive the LINK to view the MMS are the ones that can not receive true MMS. They will always receive that link, which is broken on 99% of the phones it is sent to. So far, I've only seen it work on the Centro.
I was using this Mogul phone on cricket and the MMS worked fine. Send & Receive. So the phone is capable of receving MMS.
I already changed all the settings on the Arcsoft registry, SMS works, Internet works 1X 3G, I can send the Picture Message but I only receive a broken link the points to the MediaMail website, and all it says is
" You are unauthorized to view the share".
The broken link issue is something that needs to fixed by boostmobile but they just dont care to fix it.
I strongly believe that somewhere in the sprint/Boost system theres a setting that the server sees that my phone cant receive true MMS so it just sends me a link. Which is not good because the damn link is broken.
The only thing I can think of, is to try changing to an official boostmobile full MMS capable phone, Wait a couple of days, Then do the ESN swap. And if it still doesnt work, is because the system sees the phone as a "uncapable true MMS receiving phone", which is a Lie because it can recieve pics.
Again Sprint/Boost dont care to support old phones because then they wouldn't sell their new ones. It aint my Moguls fault.
The link isn't broken, it says that you are not authorized to view using it. You can always put the media website into your web favorites on the phone and view your pictures there, until you figure out how to receive pictures directly.
