HD2 vs Touch Pro 2

When I look at phone upgrade possibilities online, I see both HD2 and Touch Pro 2 listed, both at $199 (after all rebates, two year contract).

How do the two phones compare? Anyone used both? What are the differences? Advantages and disadvantages of one vs the other?

The Touch Pro 2 is more of a business phone, physical keyboard and better speaker phone. The HD2 is a better multi media phone, better camera and huge screen.
The Touch Pro 2 has less memory and a slower processor but still a good phone.

One is newer, another one is already obsoleted.
One has a larger screen, another one is smaller,
One is thinner and lighter, another one is thicker and heavier as a brick.
One is faster, another one is much slower.
One has shorter battery life, another has longer battery life.
One touch-sreen does not response well, another one works well,but no mutil-touch.

No such thing one is for biz, another is for media...

What else, LOL !
Oh; I forgot slide keyboard, anyway I never use it.
For people is locked in contract, what is the option! Do jailbreak!

I have the HD2 now and had the Touch Pro 2. I wouldn't recommend either

It all depends on what you want it for. If you are looking for more of a multi media device and a little texting and emailing I would suggest the HD2 but if you need a phone for work I would say the TP2.
WM has some issues but they will suit most peoples needs well.

I love my TP2! It really fulfills all my needs: great call reception; keyboard for texting, emailing, typing; HSPA 7.2 Mb/s speeds for tethering; size is great compromise of big/small for pocketability; screen is gorgeous and decent size for web browsing/watching videos; battery life is good enough to last a whole day with heavy use; speakerphone is excellent; conference-calling feature and ability to switch to speakerphone by flipping the device upside down is handy. HD2 is a great phone for consuming video content and web-browsing on the big screen, but no slide-out keyboard and the larger size were drawbacks for me. The bump in specs over the TP2 weren't enough to make the HD2 significantly better in terms of hardware power. I'd say the TP2 is the choice if you need a keyboard, if not, get the HD2. Know that these devices probably only have another year of shelf-life before the new devices that will be coming out in 2011 make them obsolete.

The whole discussion about "obsolete" is silly. Technology is changing at a rapid pace. Therefore, anything you buy could already be "obsolete", since something newer is already in the works.

Yet if years later something still works well, and does what you want it to, why should you care it someone brands it with the label "obsolete"?

No need to get snippy. I don't care if you buy a device that someone labels "obsolete." I was merely pointing out the fact that since you are considering buying devices that have already been out for a year, that you'll probably want to upgrade again in another 12 months as the newer devices with better specs come out. You'll need to factor that into your decision on whether the price you are paying now is worth only having the device for 12 months. I could care less what other people think of my device.

i wasn't being snippy, and my comment about the "obsolete" label was not addressed to you in particular. As I said, I have seen magazine reviews of the HD2, about how great the hardware is, but then said the problem was the "obsolete OS", win 6.5. IMO that is silly, there is always a newer OS being worked on (and sometimes announced too soon). Perhaps Win7 is now obsolete, because they are working on Win 8. I still mostly use XP, which really can be called "obsolete", but many people prefer it.

HD2 has not been out a year, not nearly. It just came out a couple months ago. And in fact, I would not buy a product that just came out, as it usually takes some time to work out the bugs.

Windows mobile 6.5 OS is still the best phone OS so far, not obsolete OS...
Even Microsoft could not follow up the phone trend, Steve Ballmer is dumb ..

I just find the HD2 to be a poor phone all around. It's slow and big. Impossible to type with the onscreen keyboard. Battery is a joke. Freezes all the time. Poor reception. When I use the phone in my car with the bluetooth and get out of my car, the ringer goes to silent. Why????? Just an all around bad phone. Not to mention windows mobile......
