Over here it says Europe phones with 2100 will work with T-Mobile US but will only get 2G. http://reviews.ebay.ca/Which-UMTS-Ph...00000009263164
I do not care about 3G. I just want to know if I buy a phone with 2100 but no 1700 will it work with T-mobile US?
First of all, I don't care about 3G or 2G. I just want to use the phone. All I'm asking is will phones with 2100 but no 1700 work with T-Mobile us.
I understand your concern, because in your link the seller on eBay does not give any clues about 2G frequencies. You have to check all specs for the phone you are looking for and verify GSM/GPRS/EDGE bands. T-Mobile USA uses 1900 MHz band, while Euro carriers are using 900/1800 bands. Any GSM 900/1800/1900 tri-band or 850/900/1800/1900 quad-band phone should work with T-Mobile USA 2G.
Thank you for understanding. I have decided to wait for the Samsung VIbrant instead of getting a Samsung Galaxy S. Pretty much same phone but different 3G bands. I don't know why people kept saying unlock unlock. I unlocked both my G1 and Hero. Just sold my Nexus One. Currently have no phone so I was looking outside of T-Mobile.
Unlocking only needed if you are buying a phone from the one carrier and want to put SIM card from another carrier. SIM lock is a restriction coming from the carrier because they subsidized phone's prices. In your case, T-Mobile USA and Wind Mobile are using the same 2G and 3G frequencies, so Samsung Vibrant will be a perfect choice for you, unlike Samsung Galaxy S which designed for Euro/Asian markets.
